Tip #6
Never, EVER, grow a sacred rubber tree. NEVER.




I had to use creative mode to destroy that huge ass tree. I should've googled it first.

I've made some progress since last time, but this blog won't be about it. It'll be about tips for those who started recently but have no idea of what to do.


1.
Craft a crook. It must be the first thing you do (after crafting the crafting table, of course). Don't break any leaves before you do that, because using a crook increases your chance of getting saplings and silk worms (if you use them on leaf blocks, you can get string, but that's for later). Also, before you break the leaves, use the wood from the first tree to build a platform of half slabs so you don't lose the saplings. Another good thing to do is place the slabs on the bottom half of the block, because monsters can't spawn on them.

Twerk. Yeah, that's what it says, twerk. One of the mods of this pack lets you twerk to make trees grow. When you start, it's really hard to grow trees because there's no source of bone available to get bonemeal. All you have to do is crouch a lot of times next to the sapling (it's usually the shift button), you have a small chance of producing the same effect as bonemeal.

Hungry and it's raining? Just look up, your hunger bar will be restored. Another great mod!

4.
After you have at least 10 saplings, craft a barrel. If you right click 8 times with your saplings, it'll turn into a dirt block. Right click it and you'll get the dirt from it. You can use other items too, but you'll need more than 8 for some times. You can find the list here.

Vein Miner. It's taking too long to break blocks because you need to break every single one of them individually? Don't worry, there's a mod to help you with that. Go to your settings and scroll down until the second to last sub-settings. There you can choose the button for the vein miner, and next time you'll break something, like leaves, for example, just break one block with the correct tool while pressing the assigned button, and BOOM, instant break. It saves a lot of time.

I know, I know, I should be playing that Skygrind map. It got too complicated, and there were some bugs, the space was too small to have a base... I gave up. I'm a failure. I admit it.

BUT.

I found another Sky Block related map! This time with mods to make it even more interesting! It's called Sky Factory and it's basically a modded Sky Block, but instead of starting with a chest, a tree and a small platform, you get 3 books, one torch and just one three! One of those books has some quests in it to kinda guide you on where to go/what to do. I've already done the first part of it, but from now on it'll require more work, so I'll post more than once for each part.

To get string you need to use a silk worm that drops from trees. After infesting one leaf block, it spreads until the whole tree is infected:

Then I forgot to take screenshots, but nothing really exciting happened, just tons of trees chopped down.

Not this time, though.

After hours of dedication to the World in a Jar map, with a bunch of challenges done, it got corrupted. I lost everything

I'm never playing this again. So I decided to search for another survival map. I found this. There are challenges too, but this is more automated, and you unlock new islands by completing those challenges. I haven't done much yet (I'm still on quest #4), but I'm liking a lot so far.

I decided to copy Kord's idea an have a blog for maps/activities out of our server. I'll post some text "Let's Play"s of various minecraft things, such as mods, minigames, adventures... And for my first Let's Play, World in a Jar (again, copying Kord's idea ). I'll post my progress on the challenges of this map with screenies to prove I've done them.
