我中文還可以. Taiwan Night Markets are so good, for getting FAT. So much food to eat.
Everyone here speaks rudimentary english... enough to buy/sell things and get by.
All you need to know in Chinese are the numbers xD
Just point to something and say the quantity you want, and they will tell you the price.
Directions can be found in English most of the time.
I've been to China. Been learning Chinese for several years and it suuuckks. ):
Why so hard?

Try learning chinese and japanese at the same time.
You'll just confuse the characters and people'll laugh at you.

Pictographs make languages hard to learn, and pretty much no one uses them anymore except for the Chinese.
Basically in order to read Chinese you have to remember thousands and thousands of symbols.
That being said, Chinese grammar is absurdly simple, so learning to speak Chinese is pretty easy.
And i studied Japanese for a couple years...
The kanji is pretty easy since i already know Chinese, but the grammar, god i couldn't understand any of the grammar.
They use honorifics and mix their 3 forms of written language together ugh... major headache.
Learning Japanese is like learning 3 written languages at once.

Chinese is extremely hard to learn if you are above the age of 7.

Unfortunately, since I my base languages are Spanish and English I always overcomplicate my Chinese sentences. But yes, it is quite difficult to hand-write it, since you have to recall characters from memory. Not to mention many Chinese-speakers talk very quickly, and as understood there are many regional accents. I'd really like to learn the language though, if I find a way where the credits can be transfered when I come back, or just applying to schools won't be that hard, then I will probably go to China or Taiwan (probably Taiwan) to study for Uni. Either that or wait until my Junior-Senior year and do study abroad.

I've lived in Hong Kong for about half of my life around people who speak Cantonese fluently, as well as took Mandarin classes for 5+ years, and I suck at speaking/writing/reading both. :x ...but it's probably because I suck at learning languages.
