Neocodex Firefox Extensions
And How to Use Them

Installing Extensions From This Post

Simply click on the extension link:

You will see this:


Save it wherever you like, but remember where!
Then, in Firefox 3, go into File > Open File
Or, in later verisons (4 & 5): Firefox > New Tab > Open File
Navigate to where you saved the xpi file, and open it up!

You will see this screen:

Click on "Install Now" to continue, once it is enabled.

You will then see this window, or similar:

Click "Restart Firefox" to complete the installation.

You will now have the Neocodex Extensions Icon enabled at the far right of your toolbar, or have the extension you chose to install visible in the Neocodex menus.

1) cdxIcon: Neocodex Extension Organiser

This extension basically adds an icon to your task bar, allowing easy access to all the other extensions.
It is not required for FF3, but 4 and 5 need it installed unless you have the menu bar visible.
Until you install another extension, however, the button will be nonfunctional.

2) cdxTreasure: Neocodex Treasure Hunter

Originally designed for the Negg Hunting event in April 2011, this extension will search through each of the Neopian worlds for a custom phrase.
It can also search a list of custom links, enabling use off Neopets.
The "Kickstart" button is in case the loading is disrupted by an error, or a bloated advert. Only click it if the program seems to be stuck, and hasn't reactivated the other buttons.
If you leave the "Item" field blank, the program will ask for confirmation on every page it loads.
The program will use your current tab, and you shouldn't change tab while it's running.
The rest is fairly self explanatory.

3) cdxBattle: Neocodex Auto Battler

Mainly designed to quickly and easily get you the "Battle Faerie" avatar, this extension can also be used for boosting your 1p stats, and for easy plot opponents.
It can also get you the Punchbag Bob trophy.
To begin, click the "Load Battle Information" button. This will populate the pet and opponent lists.
Select a pet to see the weapons equipped.
Select one (different) weapon in each box. If you have two of the same weapon equipped, you can use them both, but be sure to select different versions in the list.
Toggle whether to use Berserk attack, and toggle one or both stop conditions. If you toggle the numerical stop button, you must enter a number of battles in the box below.
Click "Begin Battling!" to start. This button will change to "Stop Battling!", which will stop battling and reset all current battles.
The "Load Battle Information" button acts as a status bar for this application.
While it is running, do not close the sidebar, or it will stop! You may otherwise continue browsing as usual, including changing tab.

4) cdxWitch: Neocodex Edna Quester

Note: Ensure your inventory is not full or empty!

This extension will automatically complete Edna Quests for you.
It has the advantage over the Downloads Manager version of allowing you to continue to browse the site while waiting for the next quest.
The refresh rate sets the frequency in seconds for the pages to be loaded.
Max NP is fairly self-explanatory.
Rainbow Rule describes the idea that quests with "Rainbow" in the name are more likely to award the avatar. Unproven.
Three Item Rule describes the idea that quests requiring three items are more likely to award the avatar. Unproven, but well supported.
"Stop after getting the avatar" is again, pretty self-explanatory.
"Begin Witchery" starts the extension, "Stop Witchery" stops the extension.
"View Log" shows the logs, either in the same window, or as a popup.

As a side note, I got the avatar first quest when testing this extension after rewriting some of the XUL.

Is there any documentation you can give to people who want to write an extension?

Any templates for those of us who want to write one? (You know I'm familiar with Javascript in the GM format, but wouldn't know where to start on a GUI)

I just use the Mozilla Developer's Network guides and such.
There's really comprehensive documentation on the site itself.

Anything else, I just google for as I need it

I still dont quite understand what the Treasure Hunter does...the post kind of makes it sound exactly like using the search bar

I love the idea of this, especially for the battle faerie avatar. Are these for Mozilla only at the moment? I'm using Chrome and I know they can sometimes share across both platforms.

The only thing I can think of is BD opponents that you have to refresh on 1 page for..

The treasure hunter does not refresh one page.

You would use it for any future hunting events/plot steps.

I believe they only work in Firefox.
Chrome overlays probably work differently.

For me the Edna quest completer keeps Repeating in the log:

Quest requires 1 items.
Total quest cost is XXXnp.

And never seems to buy the item to complete the quest.

I'm going to need a bit more information than that if you want me to be able to help.
For a start, though, make sure you have enough np on hand, and that your inventory isn't full or empty.

Looks nice, but the AutoBattler doesn't populate my pets list, thus having an empty weapons list as well. The challengers are shown though.

Yes, It's in english.

EDIT: Disregard. I forgot my pet was at 0 hp. :3
