Yung's Guide to the Food Club!
Basics:Basically the Food Club is an event that takes place once a day with some of the vilest of Krawk Islands cretins. It is to determine who is the fiercest... eater of them all! What Is It: At Foodclub, the object of the game is to place bets on the pirate(s) that you think will win in an eating competition. You must be wise in your decisions, as there are many factors that need to be taken into account when placing your bet.
Okay so really all that is going on at the Food Club is an eating contest where 5 separate contests are held in 5 separate arenas. You can place a bet on who you think is going to win at each given arena. There are 20 different pirates participating in 5 arenas, that is 4 per arena. The arenas are Shipwreck, Lagoon, Treasure Island, Hidden Cove, and Harpoon Harry's.
All you have to do is select which pirate you think is going to win at any given arena for that day and place a bet.
Quick Guide:
Go to the Garet's Food Club Bets. and place your bet based on the bets there.
Full Blown Guide:
The Pirates:
To start with it is a good idea to get to know the Pirates better. Here is how it looks when you click the Pirates tab:
Now first thing you should look at is the % column, this column shows the frequency in which each contender wins when in the arena. Gooblah the Grarrl, Scurvy Dan the Blade, and Buck Cutlass win most frequently and this increases their odds when betting.
Now each pirate has strengths and weakness based on the courses being served. There are 40 different courses and each one has different traits.
This course is the Hot Fish and as you can see it is both Salty foods and it is Meats. Any pirate that has a strength that is Salty foods or Meats will have a better chance of winning in that arena.
As you can see Scurvy Dan the Blade has favorites of Salty foods and Meats so he does especially well if this is a dish being served.
For every strength +1 is added and for every allergy apply -1, these are the real odds of a pirate doing better or worse. You can make this list yourself everyday if you have the patience or you can go to the Daqtools Food Club and quickly look and see who has what odds and what the daily adjustments are.
Betting:
When it comes time to place your bet you will select an arena and then you will select who you think is going to win at that arena. You can select up to 5 arenas per bet and you can make 10 bets total.
Gooblah the Grarrl wins most of the time and his odds are almost always 2:1. The amount you can bet is 50 + 2 for every day you have been playing Neopets (For example lets say 1000 days) this means that the max bet you can make is 2,050 NP.
If you select Gooblah Grarrl and no other arena and his odds are 2:1 and he wins then you have won 2,050 * 2 (Gooblah's odds of winning) = 4,100 NP!
The worst odds possible that this game allows is 13:1, if you pick say Stuff-A-Roo who almost always loses, his odds are 13:1, lets say you only pick him and he wins then you have won 2,050 * 13 = 26,650 NP!
Now lets take the example a little further, if you so happen to have selected both Gooblah the Grarrl and Stuff-A-Roo and they both win then you have won 2,050 * (2*13) = 2,050 * 26 = 53,300 NP!
If you had placed these three bets and lost all other bets you would have won a total of 84,050 NP! The maximum you would have been able to spend to make these bets would have been 20,500 NP so you are looking at 63,550 NP profit!
Betting Strategies:
Strategy 1:
This first strategy is simple, you only place bets on pirates who have 2:1 or 3:1 odds and never take any risks, the profits you pull are not going to be as amazingly high but you will still be making some Neopoints. By betting only on those and making some bets different combinations of those contenders you stand a pretty good chance of winning 2-4 times your money daily.
Strategy 2:
This second strategy involves selecting a 2:1 pirate, such as Gooblah the Grarrl, and pairing that pirate up against a 12:1 or 13:1 pirate in a different arena for each bet. As soon as you've done that then you start making bets of your 2:1 pirate with two 12:1 or 13:1 pirates. You should have 8-10 bets when all is said and done. If you have any left over you just bet your 2:1 pirate winning with three 12:1 or 13:1 pirates. The odds of you winning are a lot lower but when you do win you can have massive payouts!
Strategy 3:
This strategy involves betting ONLY your 13:1 pirates against each other, making the most outrageous odds for bets. This strategy is going to be costly as you will rarely win but basically you start off by making two bets of five pirates, then you take the four with the worst odds from your top four arenas and you bet on them, then the four on the bottom, and you just keep doing combinations of this until you only have combinations of 3's left to make.
Note: You can only make a maximum of 1,000,000 NP per win per arena so if you can max out at 3 or 4 pirates selected then STOP there and don't add additional pirates needlessly. This will increase your odds of winning your insane bet tremendously.
Strategy 4 (RECOMMENDED):
Remember that link I keep posting for Garet's bets? Go there and place your bets according to those bets
Time to Bet:
You have to place your bet by 1:00 P.M. NST, after 30 minutes the results are posted and you then have to go to the Collect Winnings tab to see if you've won. If you have then you only have 7 days to collect your winnings before they expire. When going for a trophy it is sometimes wise to NOT collect during the last week of the month and as you close in on the final day after the round is over for the day collect and you might just get the Gold Trophy.
Adjustments Overview:
The adjustments are based on whether or not a course being served at that arena plays to any given pirates strengths or weaknesses. The higher this is the more favorable the conditions are for that pirate to win that round. It does not replace the odds but merely serves as a method to help determine how better to bet.
If Gooblah the Grarrl has an adjustment of -3 his odds would more than likely remain at 2:1.
If Stuff-A-Roo has an adjustment of +4 his odds would more than likely get better from 13:1 to 11:1.
If in the same arena despite the difference in odds Stuff-A-Roo actually stands more of a chance than he normally would at winning against Gooblah the Grarrl.
Use the adjustments as a tool to help guide your bets but don't live by those stats because they are not 100% right. Random negative adjustment winners do happen somewhat frequently. You just have better odds betting with a higher adjustment pirate.
The TNT Posted Rules:
Who Is Competing: There are twenty pirates that compete in each round. Each round consists of five matches with four pirates each, which are held in one of the five arenas.
When Is It: The Foodclub matches are held once per day at the designated time. The upcoming match's start time can always be found along the top of the main Foodclub page.
Placing Bets: When placing a bet, you have the option to bet on single or multiple matches. Single matches are straight-forward. If your pirate wins the match, then you win your bet! In order to win on multiple matches, you must correctly choose the winning pirate for each match that you bet on. For example, if you were to place a multiple bet on the matches that are being held at Shipwreck and Lagoon, you must choose the winning pirate for both of those matches in order to win the bet. There are no partial winners for multiple match bets, but your winnings are much higher if you are successful!
Odds: Your winnings will be based on the odds for the pirate(s) you have chosen to win. The current odds are next to the pirate's name, although they may fluctuate throughout the day as other players are placing their bets.
Collecting Your Bets: To collect your winnings bets, simply go the the Collect Winnings page. REMEMBER: You must collect your winning bets within 7 days of the match, or your winnings may be forfeited!
Betting Strategies: When you are placing bets, you need to remember that there are many different things to take into consideration. If you are simply using their win/loss record, you are bound to lose a lot of NeoPoints. First thing to do is to take a look at each pirate in the match. You should do some comparisons between their strength(stamina) and their weights. Also, more importantly, look at the foods that could possibly be served for the match. If you place a bet on a strong pirate, but he happens to be allergic to many of the foods that could be served for his match, you are almost guaranteed to lose! To research the possible food courses for a match, simply click on the Next Round link and choose which match you want to look up.
