All of the major news networks are reporting the same story virtually word for word so you can take your pick:

Fox News: http://www.foxnews.c...k-tourist-boom/

Giant leatherback turtles, some weighing half as much as a small car, drag themselves out of the ocean and up the sloping shore on the northeastern coast of Trinidad while villagers await wearing dimmed headlamps in the dark.

Anyway, in a nutshell, Leatherback's are on an upswing in population numbers. This is wonderful news for the worlds largest turtle species and an endangered sea turtle species. The articles state that tourists are shooing away birds to help the baby turtles reach the waters of the sea easier and thus increase the survival rate. In reality probably only 2-3 more turtles shall survive to adulthood by doing this per nest but that adds up quickly. Remember the high volume low profit sales strategy a lot of us employ with Abrosia? Same concept here. The more turtles making it to the sea (high volume) the more survive (profit! ...kinda). Anyway, check out the article it's a good one that really helps outline how good they are doing.

Plus the pics are pretty cool.
