I'm just having issues wrapping my head around how someone who is decent looking, wealthy, and the son of someone who worked on the Hunger Game's had as terrible luck with women as he claims. Especially in College..

He might have suffered from "nice guy syndrome". Edit: Read the article. He was the supposed "supreme gentleman". Yeah. He's one of those guys.

It's also silly that he, along with a lot of other people, thought college is for fun and sex and horsing around. Maybe all the girls were too busy getting their very expensive education to not want to have sex with him.

His Father was the assistant director of The Hunger Games and his mother was an actress.

The dude looks so normal from the outside, with proper family and stuff. but no matter what was the reasoning behind his act, the unlucky ones are his parents and the victims. 

 

just hope the injured could fully recover and the families of the victims receive aid to go tide the over their grief.

He described himself as the "supreme gentleman". If that's not enough he certainly had a good start.

I don't know this all just reminds me of those rich snobs who cry when they get the wrong sports car or a white iPad instead of a black one. Nothing ever goes right in their lives.

I highly doubt the main reason he decided to go kill people is because he didn't have sex or get girls. It's a farce. Behind the extreme narcissism is a cold hatred for women, or probably just people in general. 

 

I'm sure there are a lot of people speculating or trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with him and what made him do what he did. No one can say for sure yet, I think.

 

However from his videos it's very obvious he had some sort of mental problem.. whatever that may be. Normal reasoning isn't going to apply to him.

Well with the killer dead I doubt they'll have an easy time, if at all, figuring out what exactly his problems actually were.

Right? I think it was more along the lines of what someone previously said. He expected these things to be handed to him, like he was entitled. He probably didn't even try that hard to talk to women.

 

He seemed so cold in those videos. So, so cold. I can imagine being depressed and feeling like you're alone for a long time could do that, but that attitude is very off-putting and can easily be sensed in conversation.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood you! xD I was trying to say that he sounds like the type of guy to act exactly like that! "Oh, what a bitch, she totally friend zoned me and doesn't want to fuck me. Ugh, girls are so stupid." When in reality it's because they are horrible and probably smell like doritos.

A general detachment from the goings on of society is one of the most common signs of a sociopath.

For sociopaths there is little one can do to insinuate oneself into society. Social integration is a challenge. You normal functioning humans see the car and the money and that's all you see. I mean sure, the guy lived a privileged life, but that doesn't mean his life was all roses and cupcakes.

I don't know, I haven't watched his videos. I don't really want to. I think it's pretty poor form for his parents to find the videos and just disavow them though, without looking into what motivated the kid to make them in the first place.

Personally I've wondered if I myself am a sociopath. I share many characteristics with that label - I care little for individuals, find it hard to make social connections, and I don't care about issues (like this case, actually) that society expresses interest in.

But true sociopaths don't care about other people (supreme egoism) and I care very much about people in the aggregate. While I find it hard to make social connections, doing so is possible and rewarding for me. And as for hot button issues like these, I generally care about issues that have a broader impact. I certainly care more about Sandy Hook than O.J. Simpson, for instance.

All that speculation aside, I don't think we're armchair psychologists. Speculation is not the same as definitively declaring that the guy was manic depressive with a dash of bulimia and sociopathology. Cheap shots are even cheaper when they're far from the mark

I will be interested to see what comes of this though.
