That was part of the challenge and I'm glad not everyone searched on 'black' or 'white'. There are loads of other monochrome backgrounds, just not with those words in it.

#2 definitely, it didn't use that one same background.

However I almost voted for #4 considering it's the only one that actually contained only black, white, and shades of gray.

Hahah I was worried the issue with everyone using the same background etc would happen! A lot of these are really lovely though, I do like how that tree and bg go together. I don't mind if they use the same elements, as long as it looks good... With that said I think #3 and #6 are my favourites.

Entry #16 gets my vote...it is adorable, and I'm somewhat of a purist with this monochrome theme in terms of not wanting any other major color deviations present. This was such a great turnout, congrats @Liesa for selecting such a terrific theme, and congrats to everyone who has entered, as the entries are beautiful!

I'm going to have to agree with @Kord. Went with something simple, and kept it pure with just the monochrome theme.

#15 gets my vote, i like that they didn't go with the usual skunk/shadow/white painted pets and instead went with transparent.

What do you guys think about having 2 or 3 votes in future contests? I didn't expect turnout to be so high. Maybe I could create a sliding scale (based on the number of entries) that allows for additional votes?

I think more than one vote would be awesome, especially since most did not opt for full-on monochrome (and likely some folks would have entered somewhat different entries had they known that the theme wasn't going to be strictly adhered to for entry qualification).

I'm talking about future contests, not this one. And there are no voting criteria beyond what's in the guidelines, everyone is free to vote for whichever entry they think best fits the theme.

Agreed, I wasn't talking about changing numbers of votes for this contest (though it would have been divine to vote for more, there's at least 4 I would loved to have given votes to), but I do think that clarification should have been made in advance regarding leeway with the whole monochrome thing in advance. Some folks may have more stringently adhered to the monochrome theme than others with their entries, and they may not have done so had it been known than non-fully monochrome entries would be allowed. That's all I meant.

I voted #15, but #2 was very close. I had difficulty deciding. I love love the the background in #2, but idk #15 is just fantastic.
