Sweeney genuinely tried, I know he did. You can't harp on him for feeling defeated when you really don't understand what it was like for him or for any of us who were or are currently are on staff and tried to make a change, but continuously failed because ultimately the "powers that be" wouldn't do their part.

A lot of the things Dan wants and what Joe wants, are the same things. There's just only so much that can be done when the only admin capable is completely uninterested in helping. 

Edit: Perhaps I can steer us back on topic.. I threw up the codies thread, hopefully that will breathe life into the forum for the next little while.

We DON'T know. I don't know what efforts @Sunscorch made to bolster activity and I don't know how to help Neocodex grow back into what it once was.

 

I know I haven't been a part of this community as long as a lot of other people but this site means a lot to me. I want to help. I want to know how.

Yes. I feel it all the time, especially during the time when I actively played Neopets. The urge to post often verges to an addiction

However, one of the major things that has been causing the slowdown of codex activity is:

 

Official programs (or the lack of new ones/bug fixes). Yes, I'll be that annoying little prick that complains about everything. Abrosia desperately needs a facelift and it's functions fixed up. Most of the auto players are broken. Make Flight Rising programs official. Make some needed programs, like a neopets account creator, for higher ranked (adv+) members so there is motivation to get to adv+ and contribute to the forums.

 

If a forum has good programs, more people join forum. More people join forum, more activity. As soon as people stop maintaining the programs, activity goes down. Simple as that.

There's an account creator for private+ members.

I've been told it's leaking if I tell people, but when other people mention it, it's not leaking. I've been confused on whether I'm allowed to talk about it.

I don't post new topics often because...well...I'm sort of afraid to do it. I'm more of a "comment on what others have said" rather than a "take initiative and make topic person". I guess I'm afraid of people not commenting on the topic or something. 

 

I am also disappointed there hasn't been a singing chain yet.

The only thing that is going to help this site is if we just start doing things on our own without waiting for an admin that is completely absent and an owner that is too busy.

We need an impeachment. Short of that, we need to just start doing shit ourselves.

I'd learn to program, if I could find somewhere online that made it really easy. I tried Code academy, but got stuck and had to go check the forum for help. Or if I had a good book. Anyone have any recommendations for books?

Last I knew, we needed Cody to figure out something with the mod that was stopping users signing up if they didn't have someone to put down as their referrer.
