Anybody ever try starfruit? They have them on sale at my local grocer and mom and I are debating trying one.

I really like starfruit, but I don't like to eat it, I prefer juice.

I'm a person who needs to control sugar/milk/carbs ingestion, because I had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago, so now I have something called "Dumping syndrome". When I eat candy, the sugar is fast absorved, so I have a Hyperglycemia, then Hyperglycemia, because my pancreas secretes more insulin than I need. That's why my diet is based in proteins and vegetables. :/

Thanks so much, everybody...I tried starfruit that evening and liked it at first until the astringency really got to me and I couldn't finish it. :p I can see how it would be really nice mixed in with a salad though. It was an interesting experience to say the least, I may try incorporating one into a recipe in the future.

I really want to make lettuce tacos (I don't know what to call them), but they're wrapped in lettuce instead of a shell. They seem healthy, but I never have lettuce that's shell-y enough, if that makes sense.

I've been eating a lot of fish and whatnot. I have some squash I can make because I love squash. I don't know. I'm not great at healthy stuff.

I think they're called lettuce wraps. If you mean shell-y like crisp, I've been told that the trick is refreshing the lettuce right before you start eating. Basically have some really icy water ready that you dip your washed lettuce in for a quick soak then drain it thoroughly but quickly so the lettuce doesn't wet your stuffing. However,if you mean shell-y like structural integrity. You could try different types and see which one you like best. Personally I prefer baby romaine but I hear Boston is pretty popular.

Ran out of soylent this monday, on which I had been for over a month.

Most animal-based food tastes are too rich for me and I can't keep them down. Except for goat cheese for some fucking reason. I've resorted to rice mixed with flax seeds (omega 3 bro) as my main courses for now because that is rather neutral in taste with random salads with green peas and some beans thrown in for good measure.

I miss my soylent.

Just making lentil soup in the middle of the night. Typical sick Jessica.

Using vegetable broth with no salt in it, one that isn't tomato based (it has it in it but isn't a lot.)

Then using green and yellow split peas, barley, lentils and alphabet pasta =)

I added chilli powder, paprika, olive oil and hot chilli oil in the pot before I added the other ingredients. It's simmering for an hour now and I'm gonna eat the heck out of it and clear my sinuses ^_^

I suck at following recipes, so chances are good that whatever I made is nothing like what you looked up.

I'm trying to make "burger salad" tonight which is basically a burger without the bun. You spice the meat with salt/pepper/etc. and then fry it up. Then when it's done you top it with lettuce, tomatoes, etc. I'm adding some extra veggies like kale. Then you cut it up and eat from a bowl, like a salad. I had them before at a friend's house and they were surprisingly good! They're not super healthy but they're still better than regular burgers. Maybe I'll try ground turkey or chicken next time.

My favorite healthy meal is veggie lasagna. Use zucchini as the pasta, and I still use the ricotta, marscapone and mozzarella, but some don't. Plus spinach and tomoatoes! Ugh... now I'm craving it.

Try to cut back on gluten.

I was gluten free for about 20 days and felt great. Then I ate some on accident and I felt horrible (found out I ate gluten AFTER the horrible affects cuz I started to investigate. Moral of the story? Never trust your mom to know what gluten free is :D ). Now I'm back to no gluten and going strong for 30+ days.

For myself I noticed massive differences before and after.

You don't need to go 100% gluten free like I have but limiting it is a good idea. Pretty much most processed food has gluten in it so really it means you have to cook more yourself and eat fresh things which is always good.

Adding to the last point, try cooking a bit more. Processed food is full of refined sugar (SO, so bad), gluten, salt and all things you don't want in your body.

When you cook you control the amounts and things you add.

If you eat healthy in your every day life then there is no need to worry when you go out and enjoy yourself ;)

Eat what you want once a week (that doesn't mean insane amounts :D ), it's important to have a cheat day every once in a while otherwise you fall off the wagon more easily ;)

I recommend eating nothing after 8PM and only drinking water or caffeine-free tea. It helps me sleep easier/quicker.

Nuts and seeds as snacks are really great calorie dense foods to be having (you could also just eat crisps or whatever, but they suck) if you're trying to gain weight or maintain it when you're not really a 'eating' person.

Anyhoo, motherfucking Seitan is the shit, mixing it with spices, BBQ sauce and grilling the patties on an open fire - fucking dope as fuck meat alternative that tastes great.*

I eat this fairly often. I love it. (and whatever it's super healthy. yay fat)

Gluten is dope as fuck if you don't have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or wheat allergies. And none of them is affecting me.

I used to dislike soy, but it's an acquired taste and really the only thing that I (still) kind of don't like, but now kind of tolerate, is soy sauce.

The only soy thing I find half tolerable is tamari sauce.
