Do you listen to Podcasts? What are your feelings on them? Any suggestions? If you made a podcast what would yours be?

I listen to a few:

Serial - wildly popular when it came out last year. They're currently in their second season and it follows a convicted murder reexamining the case and how it was prosecuted. If you enjoyed 'Making a Murderer' or anything regarding criminal cases I would highly suggest checking it out.

Alohomora! - a Harry Potter podcast, they're doing a global reread of the Harry Potter series and it is just divine. They are almost done the last book but you can listen to old books or start here and see where the podcast will go now that they're done! They're linked to Muggle net so they are linked a lot of different podcasts and a brand new one called Speak Beasty which is going to follow and be about Fantastic Beasts :D :D :D

I listen to a few others but the above are my favourites, I also frequent NPR's 'Planet Money' , The Joe Rogan Experience and Freakonomics

I love Podcasts and I think they're a great way to spend time instead of listening to music or an audiobook. :)

I didn't even know what one was until a few weeks ago, my girlfriend really likes them. But I haven't found any I'm interested in yet.

I'd rather listen to music than podcasts.

The only podcasts I've listened to have been ones with Jim Jefferies in, so like the Joe Rogan experience. Jim is one funny fucker with a lot of crazy stories, one of the few people I can listen to talk for a long time without my short attention span bringing me somewhere else :p

This might sound really stupid so forgive me, I'm too ashamed to google this... but how do you get podcasts? I know you can get them on itunes, but what about us Android users?

Several people have suggested Serial to me and it sounds pretty interesting.

Check out Welcome To Night Vale. Seriously. Do it. From their website;

"WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE is a twice-monthly podcast in the style of community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff's Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events.

Turn on your radio and hide."

It's really unique, funny, and has lots of continuity throughout the series which I love. They even released a book (based on the town created in the podcast) which was a huge success if that tells you anything about the series :)

The only podcast I listen to currently is The Read. I tried listening to Serial but couldn't really get into it. I had my own podcast 5 years ago with my friend Troy called Mishelle and Troy's super show and I'm trying to convince him to bring it back. I also got asked to guess star on this lady's podcast about feminism so we'll see how that goes. If I had my own it would probably be a lot like my blog. Talking about poor life decisions and whatnot.

I've only listened to two series - Welcome to Nightvale and We Have Concerns. They're both great for just tuning out - I like to listen when I'm working outside for most of the day and need to focus on something less monotonous.

Nightvale, like Kass mentioned, is really something special. I've only listened to the first 20 episodes, but I'm hooked. I love meeting all the characters and learning all the town's mysteries. It's a bit quirky, a bit eerie, and very charming. I highly recommend it.

We Have Concerns is kind of a buddy-comedy talk show. It's two goofy dudes who find interesting stories floating around the internet and discuss them, usually going off on interesting/funny tangents throughout. I'm not sure if it's for everyone, but I really enjoy it. I used to watch Anthony Carboni (half of the duo) on Rev3Games and I've always liked how enthusiastic he is about pretty much anything he discusses. I'm actually trying to score an interview with him at PAX South this year. Fingers crossed

I listen to Marketplace by APM, but on my local public radio station :p

I have Stitcher on my (Android) phone, but I don't use it regularly. Mostly for public radio podcasts after they've aired. From the iTunes store, Tell Em' Steve-Dave and Smodcast from Kevin Smith and crew are worth a stoner listen. Otherwise trying to follow their stories will be off-putting and/or frustrating.

Occasionally, I'll see video content of a podcast recording, like joe rogan, on youtube somewhere. Sometimes I get sucked in, but usually I'm struggling to follow their conversations. Podcasts are a really open ended format, and if you go in with no real plan for the conversation, it can be really ramble-through-the-woodsy.

I usually listen to live radio or audiobooks when I drive though.

My Favorite Murder - Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark talk about murrrrrderrrr every week. They're hilarious but plus they give me great quotes. For example:

- "Here's the thing, fuck everyone."

- "Stay sexy, don't get murdered."

- "You're in a cult. Call your dad."

- "Get a job, buy your own shit, and stay out of the forest."

It's less terrifying if you're laughing.

Sword and Scale - Also talks about true crime. Gives recordings of interviews and as much detail as possible about the crime. Goes really in depth.

Last Podcast on the Left - I didn't know how to describe this one so: "The Last Podcast on the Left covers all the horrors our world has to offer both imagined and real, from demons and slashers to cults and serial killers." I usually listen to this when I've run out of My Favorite Murder episodes on the commute.

Lore - Also from the podcast page:  "Lore is a bi-weekly podcast and upcoming TV show about the dark historical tales that fuel our modern superstitions." I've listened to a few while trying to sleep. Probably not the best idea but oh well.

Podcasts I have saved to listen to:

Someone Knows Something

Actual Innocence

The Dollop with Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds

Generation Why

As you can see, I like scary/true crime podcasts.

My Favourite Murder - Elvis, you wanna cookie?
Thinking Sideways - stories of things we simply don't know the answer to.
Plumbing the Death StarIn which we ask the important questions in pop culture and dissect fictional universes. Because seriously, who deals with super weapon sanitation and imperial employee agreements?
Movie MaintenanceEqual parts fan fiction, review show and armchair producing as we look at Hollywood’s greats and not-so-greats. Join us as we propose a very simple premise; we can do it better. Movie Maintenance - because some films just need fixing. Husband got me to listen to their Twilight episode because I have so much rage for Twilight.. I would so watch their version it sounds great!
Shut up a SecondCome and sit down with us as we discuss a wide variety of dumb topics. Wanna know the history of cowboys? What about facts about bread? It doesn't matter, just shut up and listen.

Things I have saved for future listening..
Last Podcast on the Left
Once upon a Crime
Real Crime Profile
True Crime Garage
Lore
My Dad wrote a Porno
The Dollop

Still religiously listening to My Favorite Murder.

Also listening to:

Stranglers - An audio investigation of the Boston strangler

Lore

Sword & Scale

Commute podcasts:

Pod Save America - No bullshit (and hilarious) conversation about politics by people who have worked in the Whitehouse.

Pod Save the World - “Pod Save the World” will bring you behind the scenes into White House Situation Room meetings and secret negotiations through a series of conversations with people who were there."

^ this.

I have people tell me all the time I need to get into podcasts, but I haven't really put forth the effort. I am not sure if they're for me.

My boyfriend has an app for them though, and sometimes will put one on as noise for use to pass out to. It's actually nicer than having netflix playing because of the TV screen. But other than that, I have never listened to one.

I didn't think I would like them either, but it's just about finding one that you're interested in. It's kind of like listening to a conversation with your friends, and it has helped my anxiety a lot. The true crime ones are my favourite, but I'm a true crime junkie.

I actually really do enjoy stuff like that, but I don't know. Maybe I'll get around to giving podcasts a chance.

I've also been told I need to listen to audiobooks on my commute. xD buuuuuuuuut idk. I just love music so much.
