(Just in case you're on HS hiatus or totally ignore their news section)

Basically, they're going to split it up into Wild and Standard, and retire some stuff this spring.

Wild will be what we know now, where you build decks with whatever cards you have. Standard will be where you make decks with the current and previous year's cards.

I can't for anything figure out why they didn't call what we do now Standard though. Sounds like it'd be confusing.

BUT WE CAN BUILD 18 DECKS INSTEAD OF 9 WOOO

Then there's this thing...

Adventures and Expansions that are not part of the Standard format will no longer be available for purchase from the Shop—this year, that includes Naxxramas and Goblins vs Gnomes. If you want any cards you missed out on for Wild play or just to fill out your collection, you’ll be able to craft them using Arcane Dust—even cards from Adventures that were previously un-craftable. Speaking of Adventures, if you’ve purchased at least the first wing of an Adventure before it cycled out, you’ll still be able to finish acquiring and playing the remaining wings.

I've always wondered, do you think they'll end up allowing players to trade cards with other players?

That'd be swell.

I doubt it, cause it would mess with the difficulty level.

As well as their profit :p Who needs to get dust when you can just trade what you don't need?

---------

Also, I think that them removing the option to purchase the adventures (and thus the cards in them) is a bad idea because it's going to be a lot harder for people to get into wild if they didn't previously purchase the adventures....

Here's a reddit post that goes a bit more in depth

Yeah, exactly. It kinda makes me wonder if they have plans for a new series immediately when they change things though cause I thought the G&G was the most popular thing right now.

Although, I did go ahead and use up the rest of my gold + some real money getting the adventures I didn't have, so they're probably experiencing a slight 1st quarter boost right now.

It's a an interesting change, and I think it's pretty necessary for hearthstone to move forward and continue to be fun when new cards are released, but I'm not necessarily happy about it. It makes me feel less motivated to collect cards that aren't part of the standard set.

@Kass you will be able to purchase any cards from wild format via dust. Always wanted sludge belcher? Well he will now be just 100 dust instead of buying the adventure.
If I had more time, I would be all over this thread. I am super excited for the change, it will be major meta shifting time finally. And I assume that it will happen this Tuesday with the incoming update.

The issue is that I want ALL the cards.
Tuesday isn't spring though!

I consider November the beginning of winter. So... that would mean this is almost spring. Something is happening with this next update at least. :)

Yeah, it's a long update.

Is the update going on right now?? I assumed they meant PM, but I guess this time frame makes more sense.

Huge update if it takes them 6 hours to implement. Definitely adding new cards to the server. Not sure if they are releasing them yet though.

I think it's a good move by blizzard. I've almost completely stopped playing ladder because playing secret paladin every other match is mind numbing. This seems like to move towards a more midrange / control meta which actually requires thinking out your turns. Unless they royally fuck up the new expansion with over powered, early game cards - Dr. 5 anyone ??
