Where is the line for you to look past what someone has done? The biggest example for this would probably be Michael Jackson with the whole kid thing, usually people become so outraged that it essentially ends the person's career but that never happened. He's still regarded as the king of pop, and because of how good his music is, how much he contributed, I pretty much shrug all the bad press off.

In rap people praise full blown drug addicts and murderers more so than those who do good.

If you're a huge fan of Beyonce, what would it take for you to stop listening to her music and praising her like she's a queen? Or maybe you find out that Elon Musk has been running a dog fighting pit for the past 10 years, would you still continue to appreciate his work? Take your favourite person or someone you really admire, how much can they get away with before you finally lose all respect for them?

Someone's fame or work never enters into the equation for me when it comes to murder, domestic violence and sexual assault. They are automatic trash if they do those things. I could probably look past other minor things like drug use.

I liked Katy Perry until recently. You do not just randomly kiss someone without consent. That boy wanted his first kiss to be special, with someone he loved, and instead he got a vain pop star who thought it was fine because she's famous and everyone probably is just dying to kiss her. And she hasn't responded at all. She hasn't said she was sorry or anything! She hasn't even addressed it! Why is it ok for a female star to kiss a boy randomly without consent, but if a male does it it's sexual assault? It should be sexual assault both ways, just because it's a female doing it does not make it ok!

For those who don't think it was sexual assault, here's the definitoin:

Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape. From the US department of justice.

While kissing may seem "innocent", it is sexual (not with parents and kids, if you kiss your kid on the lips to show love, ok.). It was done without explicit consent. He only consented to a kiss on the cheek, but she tricked him into a full on kiss.

This! I'm a huuuuuge Melanie Martinez fan but when the allegations came out about her from Timothy Heller, ugh. I have to believe the victim unless some new development happens. Melanie's music will always be fantastic, but you can still be a talented piece of shit.

I don't really admire celebrities and artists, but rather scientists and researchers. Also my parents. I can look past drug use, but as soon someone harms someone else physically or psychologically, they're dead to me.

Though there have been instances where an artist's actions made me consider enjoying their work. Especially within the different metal subgenres, there's some... questionable folks. Especially folk metal, which is often very close to nationalism of the bad bad bad kind.

People make mistakes, and im usually willing to give people chances. so i wont write off an artist straight away for their short comings. I also don't always connect art to its makers. I like lots of Michael Jackson music, for example, but have no opinion on him as a person, nor would consider myself a fan. I think an artist work and personal life can be appreciated separately. That said, sometimes an artist will do something that i really don't like, and i will give them and their work the cold shoulder for a while/until there is some kind of reconciliation. But i'm not really a "fan girl" kind of person anyways lol.

Side note: wasn't the Michael Jackson kids things never proven?

I tend to divorce an artist's works and their personal life. Good music can come from bad people.

Would you support an artist like Chris Brown?

I don't like Chris Brown's music...

If there was someone who's music I liked, but did something like Chris Brown, I would still listen to it. Just makes me less guilty when I pirate their music :p

Thank you for still answering the question despite not liking Chris Brown  :p

I agree with Ortin. However, I would not do anything to support the artist financially (no going to concerts, purchasing music etc)
