I didn't tell him at all....it was more of a suggestion. Are you fishing for an argument or something.

You know a lot of people will be offended by what he said and therefore it is best he keeps it to himself. I fully understand free speech and all that crap (which is probably what you would say next)...but it is you and the other mods who will have to deal with all the warnings being given out after the flame fest.

I think the "don't hit girls" thing is like a remainder of our chivalry past. Even though millions of people fight and promote equality they still think it's wrong to hit a girl but not a guy. It's one of those societal things that people just go along with...

Actually, many take the stance of you don't hit those who are not as capable of defending themselves. Usually this is the woman in a relationship even if they are emotionally weaker, but not weaker in strength. In domestic violence usually the vicitm is has both emtionally and physically weaker, but not necessarily both.
If there was a rather large woman who beat up her weaker partner, some (not all, but myself included) would see that as wrong and should be stopped.

I realize you're trying to see both sides, I don't think that there is ANY reason for a man to hit a woman. PERIOD. No one, and I mean NO ONE, deserves to be struck for something. Especially in public.

I agree except that it is just as bad in public than it is in private, if not worse. Unless some woman has a gun to me and is going to try and kill me, I dont see any reason you should ever hit a girl. I don't see it as chivilry or something that was forced on me, I just don't think that it is right. I dont really think it is good to hit anyone but if you are protecting someone or doing it in defense then it is ok.

And actually, you did say it was your opinion. I'm sorry but people don't go spouting someone else's opinion when you don't believe it's correct, except to distinguish it or say why it's ridiculous.

And it is one thing to say a point is ridiculous and go on to prove that, than to say it is ridiculous, rip the person a new one, and then carry a grudge against them for months on end... right? You don't have to agree with their opinion, but at the very least you should show some respect for the person.

At any rate, the guy was a lot larger than the girl, and she was clearly backing away and on the defensive. The guy deserved to removed from the situation, although for those that use violence as the first punishment they think of, he probably would not learn from just being removed, being beaten up is probably going to be the most effective way of getting the point across.

Also- for the spelling and grammar mistakes, everyone isn't perfect. If it bothers you, talk to them about it, rather than holding it against the person without said person knowing. Maybe then they can fix it, and to address your comment about browser spell checks- I'm not so sure IE has one. Not every browser has one, and not all computers can support every browser efficiently due to hardware limitations. Say H2O is less fortunate and has a cruddy old PC, why would you hold a grudge against him because of a situation where he is trying the best he can but it still doesn't meet your standards?

Finally, the lack of respect comment- Out of line for a moderator. You have to remain professional, as you obviously have not in this thread.
