He probably has a static IP address.
The tip you offered earlier, Super, only works for people whose ISP's have provided them with a dynamic IP address.
Most people have static IP's which can usually only be changed by requesting a change from their ISP.

Actually, most people have Dynamic IP's. Static IPs usually have an extra cost attached to them.

The stuff in my post will apply to you too then freakout, except you will no doubt have a different router. Find out if your router has a DHCP release feature, and if not then try disconnecting, using the router (not just unplugging or powering off).

I have tried that before, didn't really do anything. I even had a power out like a month back and everything was off in my neighborhood for a few good hours. When everything went back up the IP was still the same.

Easy, go to ipchicken.com, record the IP.
Unplug your router, modem, etc for about 30 seconds.
Plug it back in. If your IP hasn't changed, you most likely have a static IP.

Not really. It depends on the modem lease time on some ISP's. For Charter cable in the St. Louis area, I have to unplug my modem and unscrew my coax cable, and leave it like that for at least 4 hours before it will drop the lease & let me gain a new IP. Even if I loose power for 12+ hours, I can still come up with the same IP, even tho I'm listed as 'dymanic' & it does change (occasionally, if bad storms come thru and power drops, or they change some headend hardware, or I get pissed & just disconnect everything overnite.

Although my IP is dynamic where it changes when my modem is reset, my IP seems to change even when my modem isn't unplugged lol..I'm not sure what causes that but I think my ISP is always assigning new IP's to subscribers. If you don't have a dynamic IP thingie, talk to your ISP and maybe you can manage to get them to assign you a new IP once in a while.

You can change your lease time on certain ISPs.

Mhm. I wanna change my IP since I'm IP banned on a few forums and I got frozen again on neo. XD Really can't be bothered with finding a good proxy to use, over a long period of time n that.

Never wanted or needed to change it before, so I have no idea how to go about it. x__x Anyone feel like helping me? tongue.gif

Try SPOOFING your MAC address.

If my ip is like xxx.xxx.???.??? with the x meaning constant numbers and the ? meaning the changing numbers whenever I reset the internet it means dynamic right? Cuz I just realized something that might make me think its not.

Dude it depends on whether you got a static or dynamic IP adress. If its dynamic, all you gotta do is unplug your modem for an hour and then it should be fine when u plug it back in. If its static, i would use another program for example try running firefox through a proxy and then you should have a different IP adress

Yes that's dynamic. Each ISP has a range of addresses which is why some numbers at the beginning stay the same. What's the something you just realised?

ugh I just contacted my ISP to try and maybe get them to help me with changing it again, and they said that it doesn't change for months and sometimes years... wtf is this bs? I asked if there was anyway to change it and they just replied "umm... no not really".

and mac spoofing doesn't effect my IP at all, damnit I guess I'm going to be IP banned till I'm back in college next month.
