Lol, my PS1 was like that. It randomly spoilt and unspoilt by itself then broke for quiet abit. Left it in the closet for a few years and it started working again oddly enough.

A flew explanations (happened to me):
-You blew a capacitor on your Xbox's motherboard...
- Your DVD drive is just wearing out
- The Plug for it wasn't attached properly (it's really that easy)
- The diode on the DVD drive is wearing out...
Theres tons of explanations, I guess you'll just have to figure out. Go to www.xbox-scene.com and find help there, not a neopets forum lol...
