Well, that was unexpected for me- I never realised the problems DDOSing can cause for HOSTING. Not that I'm sure exactly what it is... well, hopefully we'll move smoothly, eh?
Well dosing is basically a overflow of packets attack =P
Denial Of Service =)
It sucks that you guys have to lose hosting over something as stupid as this...

Mystical is one big CENSORED piece of shit...Actaully I agree with his post, but I don't liek that fact he's leaning towards us for the blame and making neo_grl look like a fricken angel.
We've done that twice before and she's never dropped it.Neo_grl will happly drop any and all thoughts about codex and its members.

And I'M upset about the potential E-Zine delay, Pyke. And getting to know whether I got into private membership or not... I'd rather know than be kept in the dark but, meh. I've been a member for two months, a couple more days surely can't hurt me!

Hopefully the sever will be as good hardware side and 10 ti'mes better support wise. I know they can't take DOS attacks, but it's not like you guys are sitting around doing nothing about it, your doing as much as 'good morale' allows. Not to bring up 'older' topics...
A DOS attack can flood any major data center if the attack is big enough. Regardless what host it is, if your site has a history of DOS then you won't find stable hosting for long.
Yeah, only 19 hours.. what did they give you 24 hour notice, if so that's BS...
It takes only minutes to find a host. I have attempted to offer every resource to move this site to a new host without ANY downti'me. I would like to know why it's BS that one site must reap havoc on hundreds of our clients? Are you willing to pay more per month to staff the server and continuously run blockage on IPTABLES as each IP comes in with floods of request to the server?
We have offered to forward DNS from our servers (which still routes all traffic) to the new host which lowers downti'me to only minutes.
The hosting that we are moving to seems nice enough, if not nicer, updated firewalls, servers.
We run floodgaurd at the data center along side firewalls that use a DDOS database to block out IPs that flood the network. No company will be able to offer you what you need with these forums "war" games that are going on with you and another site.
eMax doesn't seem like a really good service if they are canceling you because of DOSing, mabey their servers really cant handle it..
We run only Dual Zeons in hyper-threading mode with 2 GIGS of RAM. All servers run dual hard drives as-well. You won't find better server out there.
The point in me posting is to set everyone straight. It is not our companies fault this situation has happened. We service over 700+ domains and have a 98% approval rating from our clients. It is in the best interest of our company to cut all ties with this site. Is this our fault because we are protecting our other clients? No absolutely not.
Before continuously trashing our company keep in mind we have every right to cut service to this site at anyti'me but instead we have chosen not to. We have chosen to work with the client and help them move.

Our host, eMax Hosting has just informed Hydrogen that they are cancelling our hosting deal due to a dDOS attack that was brought upon us earlier on. They made it clear that they do not want a site that will si'mply get attacked all the ti'me. Thus, we are moving servers. We will still reside at www.neocodex.us, but we are moving to a different host.
Hydrogen,
We never clai'med "you" were doing DDoS attacks. The statement was "history of DDOS attacks" which refereed to your website as being a target of such actions. The slander on your website about another group/web site/person is against our TOS/AUP and only causes issues.
You say "I am being punished for something I have not done" but what about our other hundreds of clients who are on the same server but may experience slow load ti'mes because your site is being attacked because there is a personal issue with your site and another. Should they pay? Should we spend many more hours of support ti'me to defend the mass amounts of traffic being ported to your site?
Providing DDos support for a website cost a lot more than $5.95 a month. I apologies but our decision is finial. As explained in the last e-mail we are willing to forward your DNS I'mmediately to help lower the possible downti'me when you find another host.
If you have any other questions please feel free to reply. Thank you.
Regards,
eMax Client Support
Pack up your things, because we are moving We have approxi'mately 19 hours. Do not be suprised if you see downti'mes.
We already know who attacked us using dDOS methods, and we will investigate this further.
no duh it was ntwist/neo grl
