Curious to know if anyone has experienced such a phenomenon? Or know anyone who has? Personally i have not, but would like to maybe experience it once... providing i come back. However, since i sort of dont believe in the "afterlife", i am kind of a skeptic. I have seen shows about ppl who have these out-of-body experiences, seeing lights and floating above themselves.. etc. Just wanting to know what others think. thanks
My son's comp is screwed...
12 May 2011 - 03:17 AM
Last night my son's lappy went nuts. I know he puts useless crap on there, so i knew this time would come
he has put like 3 different OS's on there, and god knows what else
i did the recovery disks 2x last night in hopes that it would wipe his comp clean and restore it to facory settings but to no avail
when turning on comp i get this message on a purple screen (ill try to be as accurate as possible...
GNU GRUB version 1.99~rc1-13ubuntu3
then theres a box with these options to highlight...
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.38-8-generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.38-8-generic (recovery mode)
Previous Linux Versions
Memory Test (memtest86+)
Memory Test (memtest+, serial console 115200)
Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sal)
Upon clicking the windows 7 option, this purple screen shows up...
error: no such device
error: no suck disk
then it brings me right back to the first screen
He has a Gateway NV53
AMD Athalon II x2
500 GB HDD
4 GB Memory
I sorry if i sound dumb, but if i used the recovery discs, why is the screen showing up showing what OS's are still installed when its supposed to wipe it clean? any help getting rid of this crap on here is appreciared ty!

Help w "cleaning" comp..
06 May 2011 - 10:51 AM
I have a basic Win 7 Home Premium desktop (yes ppl still use those!) 500GB Hard drive, only of which less than 40GB is being used.
Over the last 2 weeks or so, the net has become slower than crap. Ive tried to clean basic stuff under internet---> tools, i rt clicked on comp properties, done chkdsk, ran malwarebytes, etc.
im wondering if anyone uses a good cleaning software that will, for example, erase/clean all junk files, dup files, invalid extensions, etc. ive not used a program of that type on this specific comp in a yr and a half so im sure it needs it?
the more "straightfoward" it is, the better, im not computer illeterate, but like a easy clean interface
Would prefer some kind of "upgraded" program, torrenting something thats useful would be fine, as i can do that
Thanks for your suggestions.
PS i have also noticed my IE8 locks up so many times lately, is this because Microsoft is making it difficult for us so we upgrade to the IE9? I tried the beta of 9 and my comp was slower tha it is now. (I know that Microsoft wouldnt do anything intentional like that, but ya never know lol)
thanks!

I have no idea on where to begin, i think i need to request my old transcripts? how long does that take? ill be applying at a few places for some online courses.. thinking Purdue Univerisity, but i dont know. I tend to procrastinate, but i know i cant on this. any help or suggestions?
