In Topic: Marijuana Usage During Pregnancy

08 November 2011 - 11:44 PM

I think people are jumping on the bandwagon here...
I'd like to say that I agree that if you are pregnant you should probably stop smoking pot, but it really isn't as clear cut as "Its scientifically unproven, and therefore horrible for you."
Clearly something unproven can have horrible side effects, thalidomide comes to mind, but its pretty much inconceivable to avoid all risks in your life. So although I would recommend to anyone close to me who got pregnant to stop smoking pot, but that's just because I am paranoid. I think the decision should be left to individuals and that its really impossible to decide either way at this point. From what I read of the articles, it seems that pot does in fact the outcome of a pregnancy, but there is inadequate research to conclude that smoking pot during a pregnancy will result in higher malformations, lower intellect or lower birth weight, as any article that draws such a conclusions does so on a limited sample size. So saying fuck you to all mothers the smoke during pregnancy is a little harsh in my opinion.

My two cents anyways.
