guys i've smashed up six mekua and balthazar pinatas so far and no avatar has come forth. am i doing something wrong?

hi guys. 

i've been playing neopets for nearly half my life [seriously, writing that worries me slightly], i've been on there 10 years and i've recently got into avatar collecting in a big way. my main aim is to get at least 80% of all the available avatars, and to stop spending all my np - i never seem to have any cash because i get distracted by stamps and map pieces etc. oops!

i have only ever had one pet - i'm a bit weirdly loyal to her. she has a really stupid name but she's quite clever.

i am awful at coding etc. but i've been lurking on the forums for ages, and everyone seems super helpful which is nice :3

i'm 22 and i feel old. i seem to spend all my life attached to my laptop so i'm sure i'll be stopping by lots.
