It's surprising how trapped I feel. Day in, day out, I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing everything just because I'm expected to do it. I want to succeed, but I don't want to completely conform; I'd like to make my mark without being a sheep.

Just a bit of advice - be consistent with your verb tenses. You suddenly switch to present tense in the second paragraph and it sounds awkward.
