I've applied for a sales associate at Currys and two Supervisor jobs at Co-Op and Selco (I have the experience).
Staples may be making me redundant as they're cutting payroll. I currently work 28 hours a week for 52 weeks and they want to potentially cut me down to 16 hours a week for 52 weeks. I cannot do this as it will leave me in the red each month.
I've just got off the phone with HR asking whether I can have two contracts. One for 16 hours and another ...

If it makes you feel any better, I applied to at least 200 different retail locations and got maybe ten responses. Of them, 7 were automated "we got your application" notices with no further contact, two were rejections, and one was an interview that ended in "We already hired somebody" when I arrived for the interview. Now I have a pretty cushy call center job that pays better than my old job ever did. Something will turn up!
