I think my dog is retarded.. he was sitting at the gate crying like he does when I'm on the other side.. So I go up and tap him on the head, and he looks up at me like.. "Oh, hi girl. I'm sad that you're on the other side of the... wait a minute!" and then sat down happily beside me. No more crying....

My friend has a dog that is actually mentally challenged. It's the happiest dog in the world. Your dog might just be stupid :P

My dog is ALWAYS happy unless there is a gate between me and him. He's also mostly blind though, he could have legitimately thought I was behind the gate.
