One of my friends has just informed me that it is illegal for me to keep Rango. =\ Guess I spent like $40 on him for nothing. Oh well. I'll go get a Tiger Salamander soon to replace him, and I'll let him go tomorrow.

There are laws in effect to protect certain species from being removed from their natural habitats. It has to do with the protections the location has on the natural land. I'm not sure about the legalities, but we have several laws like that in the desert that protect certain snakes, birds and coyotes. There's like a $5000 fine for uprooting cacti here.

^ That being said, you found this critter in your home and can probably assume it has already been a housemate of yours for a few days? I really don't think anyone is going to notice though.
