Someone trades a pet away and it's gone through two diff people now they demand the petpet back from you and aren't exactly being nice about it would you give it back?

If you don't really care about the petpet and since the person is being a jerk, just put it up for auction for 1np and tell whoever it is to earn it back. If you do care about it, just keep it.
