Why do celebs bleach their skin to be more white

Two reasons.

Western imperialism brought western beauty standards with them.

In more traditionally rural cultures dark skin was associated with farm workers because they tanned from being out in the sun. Paleness was associated with wealth because they could stay inside. These cultural norms have carried on into modern day.

@Mishelle In modern day, tan is associated with wealth, as you can afford the leisure to lay on the beach and daydrink all you want *tear* . Paleness is associated with being stuck in a cubicle all day.

Tan is associated with wealth in the west but still in India and some other parts of Asia paleness continues to reign supreme.
