Can someone define "The personal is political"? I'm trying to figure out a short and sweet definition.

It's a commentary on the importance of political action to further personal rights. Carol Hanisch specifically meant that coming to comprehend how grim the woman's plight is (i.e., the personal) is just as important as taking action to better it, be it through protests, education, et cetera (i.e., the political).
