I once asked a classmate at the boarding school I went to (he identified as a snake - a fur-less furry, mind you) to assign me a fursona. He told me to describe my personality a bit, then asserted that I was in fact a gryphon.
My roommate then decided for herself that she was a waterbear (for reference: http://cdn.dogomedia.com/system/ckeditor_assets/pictures/534049a11860e07c3a009ddb/content_A-water-bear-Paramacrobio-010.jpg).
Things spiraled pretty quickly.
