How do I open a formal e-mail to a company in English? "Dear [companyname]" sounds so weird, but Google makes it seem like that's correct? How can a company be a dear :/

Hmm, well I hope it'll be alright. It's adressed to a UK company. If my application depends on my salutation it's probably not a good company to work for :p

I often have that debate with myself. Depending on the time of day I send the e-mail, I tend to start it with Good Morning, Good afternoon etc. As Dear XXXX sounds like the start of a love letter xD
