It was on highdeas

The original poster

If you don't want to go there it just says.

The floor is just...
the biggest shelf.

Am I right?

I just thought I might share the awesomeness of this statement.

Anyways, thanks floor, for everything.

I heard you like shelves, so I put a shelf on the floor so you can shelf while you shelve?

    No.

Shelves are for putting books on. Floors are for walking on.

Well, I don't know what kind of floors you are talking about that aren't flat.
Maybe if someone has an un-even metal shag carpet...

Well, that renders the statement meaningless.
Floors in buildings are all different sizes, so there is no such thing as "the floor", in a general sense.

Just because things are different sizes doesn't mean they aren't the same thing.

Ayo, doesn't it seem like you're just being attacked for the fact the floors make great shelves?
I dunno' 'bout the rest of these weirdos, but the floor literally holds everything in my house; it's an amazing shelf. Posted Image
It even holds *more shelves*!! Posted Image Talk about efficiency!!! Posted Image

    Consider this:
You have three fruits; A large apple, a medium-sized orange, and a small apple.

Saying "The apple is the largest fruit" is meaningless.
Even saying "The large apple is the largest fruit" is tautologically redundant.

I completely see where you're getting at.
But if you would have made the statement not so technical and just appreciated its good humour I'm sure you would have enjoyed it as much as I did when I read it. Instead of trying to prove it wrong by saying not all floors are the same therefore how can you say that it is bigger than a shelf.

Sometimes it's not a good idea to pick apart things until they become unfunny.

    Or the walls.

But everything in your house that isn't on the wall, ceiling, or floating is on the floor.

It's my experience that humorous statements tend to have a more favourable impact when they're, you know, actually humorous.

Number of things on my floor in my bedroom: 3, soon to be 1.
Number of things on walls and actual shelves in my bedroom: Countless.

    :p
