My favorite gift I have gotten is probably a computer. My parents managed to convince me the PC wasn't mine and it was for my grandmother. I even helped wrap it.
Oh man, I bet you were surprised. My mom has done that shit to me with presents. All the time you're wrapping it, you're thinking of all the cool shit you can do with such a thing if only it were yours and then IT *IS* YOURS.
Give people what they asked for, because apparently being surprised with gifts that they are not expecting is not "in" anymore and they think they can just give you a list and expect all those gifts under the plastic tree and ruin all of the fun.
I don't believe in this.
Here comes my rant!
It's not in the spirit of giving to get someone something they've explicitly asked for. I know those types of odd families who make lists of what people should get them, and then there's always a disappointment that someone got them the wrong thing in the wrong size, or the wrong color. It's disgusting behavior. Why don't you go out and buy something you want for yourself then, selfish asshole? I would much rather receive something I have never ever thought of buying myself, given to me by someone who thought I might like it.
Two years ago in a Secret Santa drawing at work, I was given the cutest black puffy French-looking sweater a co-worker thought I might like. It's not something I would buy for myself, far too girly. And I live in south Texas, so I rarely use it. But I absolutely love it.
The best present I've ever gotten for someone is this year, I got my sister one of those retarded High School monster doll things. She's going to love it because 1. she loves dolls, and 2. she won't be expecting anything from me, because I basically never get her anything. Hee hee hee.
