no... gonna wait a few months. :(

Pffffft.  Fine.  My advice to you is to NOT do it in a public place unless she has specifically mentioned that she thought that sort of thing was romantic.  Otherwise, if you do it at a restaurant or in front of friends, she may feel pressured to say yes when she may not want to say yes, or worse, think you're trying to embarrass her. :p

The best way to propose is originally. I'm sure if you look on the internet you'll find the more 'popular' ideas. Also, how many people on Codex are married?

Big step for you though, wish you the best.

I am married. Probably more of us on codex than you think.

How to propose depends on your girl. But honestly, I think most of us don't need flashing lights and billboards or rings hidden in deep sea treasure chests. That stuff's only important if you're trying to get on tv. Whatever you decide, do it right - ie, get on your knees.

I actually agree with this, not just b/c of the pressure thing but also b/c it should be a moment between the two of you..

I think a public setting is fine, granted that it has some personal connection or past experience that was special.

I'm thinking of taking her up to the mountains for a day of picnic and other outdoor related activities and popping the question then... Alternatively, we may go to some hot springs or spend the day out on the lake and I'll ask her then...

Either way, I have the ring in my hand now and am ready to make it happen when the time strikes soon! :D

Water related activities are bad, chances of the ring ending up disappearing into the water by accident are quite high.

Do it while doing something she enjoys without letting her now what is coming. Also, down on one knee is a must for traditions sake :p

And if he gives her the ring on the boat, and she replies favorably, she might jump on him for a big hug and kiss, capsize the boat, and lose the ring o.o But proposing on the lake would be awfully romantic otherwise ^.^

Eee! Good luck and an early congratulations! And if she says no then. you know, disregard the congratulations part.

I'm not married but I might as well be. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now and we've lived together for 3ish. We've talked about marriage (obviously it's bound to come up in 4 years) but I want to wait until we've both graduated from college so that would be Fall 2012 at the earliest. He wants to get engaged soon but I don't really care about having a long/short engagement so basically whenever he decides to ask is when we'll do it.

Thanks for all the well wishes and support guys!

I'm officially going on vacation starting tomorrow and may pop the question tomorrow... but unless catastrophe strikes, I'm definitely going to ask sometime in the next week! :D

    like this...

on a normal day if your watching tv or whatever just say marry me then she will be like wtf or something then ask you what did you say and you say nothing. she'll think about it then next day take her out and propse the "classic" way

it should totally be something specific to her, and to your relationship
if it's something that would work for any other girl or couple, it's not unique enough
that way, the method itself SCREAMS "YOU are the only one for me"

    so gl m8

I kind of want my secretly video taped.. from a good angle.
I'd feel awkward having them there during the proposal so they can just watch the video. I'd love to see my reaction anyways.

    I'm divorced, & I'll tell you don't propose like my ex-husband did:

I was rushing around getting everything together to go to dinner at my grandparents' for mother's day. We were running super late. He comes out holding our daughter & says to me, "Aeris(our daughter) was just telling me that she thinks it's white trash that mommy & daddy aren't married," and hands me a ring.

Incorporating insults into your proposal is probably a bad idea in general.

Sadly, and against my better judgement, I did.
There were a lot of reasons why I did, though. Pressure from my family, etc.

My boyfriend's best friend proposed to his girlfriend at the Eiffel Tower. It's obviously been done, but it was cool because it gave him an excuse to have their friend taping the whole thing. He just pretended like he was taking a video at the top of the Eiffel Tower and then turned it to them when he started proposing. Plus it was cool because all of us knew he was going to do it but they were spending the summer in Europe so the friend put it in Youtube and we could all see it. :)

Married for nine years!!! We used to live near the beach and would go for walks to watch the sunset. One evening he just stopped, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Married for 13, and happier every year. We had already decided that we would marry long before I officially "popped the question" or presented the ring, but I did so on a walk on which we discussed our future together and the best way of doing things. In my wife's particular case, what she considered to be most romantic was that I was very careful and analytical to do everything as I thought would be very best for her. Disney mush wouldn't have appealed to her anywhere near as much. So, I do hope that you picked a way that was uniquely specific to your own fiancee and your particular relationship. Cheers.

A family friend proposed by taking his girlfriend dog sledding in Alaska. Then, after they had gone to an isolated, beautiful spot, he got down on one knee and proposed. It was super romantic, apparently.

i'd say when the times right, drop on a knee after a long speech about your love for her....it just seems like the best way to me.

How did he do it - and did it go the way he wanted?!

I'm such a sucker for engagements.
