I love soyabean milk! It doesn't really taste remotely like milk but it's tasty. I never tried the packaged stuff though coz it's easy to find it freshly made in the food markets.

I really don't notice the difference between skim 1% and 2% milk. My favourite milk is obviously chocolate, but I never drink it. I didn't answer the poll because of this.

The packaged soy milk doesn't actually taste like the home-made soy drinks

My parents make that thing, and I really dislike it. It doesn't really have much of a taste but it kind of reminds you of plastic? It's hard to describe (not that I ever had plastic)
I enjoy the packaged products a lot better - vanilla extract + sugar = makes the soy milk taste wonderful.

BUUUUUUT, soy drinks isn't really milk. Other then the color, I don't see why people call soy drink - soy milk.

Nope, it's a dessert-like food. The texture is like jelly and it is served with a sugar solution. The brown liquid is coconut syrup if i'm not wrong.

Here is a wikipedia entry on it.

err, it's called 'dao jerng" in chinese - thats how you would pronounce it at least
    it's not really soyabean curd.

it's more like tofu + honey
it's flipping awesome. I 100% whole heartedly recommend this.

I love to have it on cold days, you heat it up and pour some honey on it.
    Asian version of hot chocolate

i think it's pretty hard to find like that.

I live in nyc, so a trip to chinatown is all it takes to find this stuff.
There are quite a few people who sell homemade "dao jerng" and it's amazing. Cheap as well - it's a dollar for a pint.
    SOOOO SWEET.

The only difference is one is water with chocolate powder in it, which can either taste very good or bad depending on who makes it. The other looks like yogurt bobbing in toilet tank water. (Or diarrhea water) Take your pick.

I understand the skepticism but in all honesty, it's very good.
Sometimes it's nice to try things outside your comfort range.

I understand completely, but I just don't quite think that is something you can compare to hot chocolate.

Plain skim milk most of the time, I'm not a big fan of "heavy" milks.

At the school cafeteria though, EVERY single day, I must have my carton of chocolate milk. It's what makes the lunches worth eating.

Are asians prone to being lactose intolerant?

I went through a 'Jared Diamond' phase when I was 16 years old, and he never fails to mention lactose intolerance.

It's a nice example of recent human evolution.

I was raised on that GARBAGE as well... Now that I'm a Big Boy I have my own choices, and choose not to drink Fatass Milk (skim)
