My own view - I think it's utterly retarded to chat on the boards. I think the moment you start cheating neo you have to accept that you won't be some famous BD chatter. It's really important to not draw attention and as much as some people want to get famous, that's the opposite of what you want. That being said, I think in my whole time on neo I've posted maybe 2 or 3 TOPS messages on the boards (and those were only to sell something really really HTS) so I don't really know what would happen if I were to post. Even when I sell something, I use neomails exclusively whilst browsing the auction house and trading post.

Maybe I am just antisocial but it still seems unnecessary. I don't see how it would make your account look any more legit and "human" as I've seen in some "how not to get frozen" guides. As long as you're not a retard, chatting on the boards doesn't draw any attention to you at all.

I try to limit all forms of communication on Neopets and that includes not going on to the neoboards as much as possible.

Personally, I don't see the point of playing a community-based game unless you're at least superficially involved in the community o.o
Hmm..I don't know. I personally don't really see neopets as a community-based game :x After all, there are so many things that can be done in neopets that doesn't require you to interact with other people. It's also one of the reasons I'm on neopets rather than a mmorpg (where not interacting with people = no party = low level/slow leveling = fail >.>)
And quick question: If going on the neoboards does make you look more "human", would getting an under-13 account be better since it would give you a legitimate reason not to be there or is an under-13 account restricted in any way other than neoboards/neomail that makes it harder to cheat?

It really doesn't matter.

Anything more complicated then that runs immediate risk of being reported by trigger happy 8 year olds, trust me... the Neoboards are a breeding ground for Neo-Police (grammar nazi's) waiting to jump the gun and have you banned for mentioning facebook or something ridiculous that has like 0.47% RL connection, but just enough to get banned for.
Neoboards? Not worth it, unless for quick advertisements.

Avoid like the plague. They always seem to have a tight community and everyone knows everyone else. Hard to join a thread without raising suspicion and even if you succeed, you get zilch.
Exactly. Everyone knows EVERYONE else on a FIRST NAME basis. Each seperate board is it's own community, and they don't like newcomers. Being a new poster on a Neoboard is like asking to have them stalk you until they find a reason to report you and have you frozen.
No thanks... just post @ codex to fulfill your forum needs

That's bullsh*t. Just ingratiate yourself by giving a few trinkets out, helping with the purge, etc. etc. and you can get far quickly.

More bullsh*t. I post RL stuff and sh*t all the time. Unless you do it blatantly or are an idiot, nothing's going to happen.

Yeah, bots don't post but it doesn't mean that a cheater is always botting. I really can't imagine the staff going "hmm, he posts on the boards so he's probably not cheating."

Completely agreed with this. There's only so long I can play neopets without some form of human interaction. Sure, some people on the boards are complete tools but some are better than others and I enjoy the sociable side!

for the most part i just stay away from them, even on my main... the ONLY thing I EVER use them for is to push a few advertisements for my shop in the Shop Ads forum, which is just pretty basic communication.

Yea I agree the only time I would ever use it for SSW, or for trades
