I am getting a new laptop and cell phone. recommendations.

im digging the iphone4 but everyone basically has it...i heard the blackberry torch is also awesome. what are the pro's cons of iphone vs blackberry (bbm ^^)

laptop - budget around 500-600.

iPhone you can easily jailbreak a bunch of cool apps I guess. Ummm... lol. That's pretty much it. My friends who have iPhone tell me that receptions not that great but meh.
I like BB personally. I don't like the ones with the non-qwerty keyboards though. Either no touch screen or a mix of the two. I love BBM haha. Totally crackberry for sure... but there's also Android phones I hear they're great and better than iPhone or BB.

Laptops. I hate HP so I don't recommend that. Most people I knew with HP laptops they had to always repair it... and I know by experience. Maybe it was just their DV6000's which were shitty.

My cousin and uncle both have iphone 4's and can use face time (free with wireless) across continents which is pretty amazing.. besides the reception i havent heard of anyone totally hating on the Iphone 4.. but a BB is totally more businesslike

Why BUY a laptop at all?

I just rent mine for $60/month on a 2 year contract, the $60 covers all insurance, accidental damage, failboating of hardware / operating system etc... At the end of 2 years I just dump anything I want onto my external HDD and get a brand new laptop that is current.

Atm I have a Toshiba Satellite L500, which I've had for about 8 months now and not had a single issue with. Is capable of doing pretty much everything I want it to do. Now, computers in Australia are dearer than those in the US so I am going to say this sort of setup will fall between your budget.

Also, at the end of the year I write it off in taxes as 'work related'.

    lol?

That comes up tot 1440 over 2 years, why not just spend 1440 every 2 years and have a laptop that you can keep?

I'm guessing he owns some type of home business. If you have a home/small business, you can offset some living expenses (and others that are not so living such as renting a laptop) as business expenses.
