First things first Welcome (: I saw another thread but it was about mma/bjj/wrestling. This is just MMA (:

Next MMA event

Dream "Dynamite!! 2010"
  • Satoshi Ishii vs. Jerome Le Banner
  • Sergei Kharitonov vs. Tatsuya Mizuno
  • Alistair Overeem vs. Todd Duffee (for interim heavyweight title)
  • Bob Sapp vs. Shinichi Suzukawa^
  • Champ Bibiano Fernandes vs. Hiroyuki Takaya (for featherweight title)
  • Champ Marius Zaromskis vs. Kazushi Sakuraba (for welterweight title)
  • Shinya Aoki vs. Yuichiro Nagashim+
  • Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Josh Thomson
  • Kazuyuki Miyata vs. Caol Uno
  • Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura vs. Tetsuya Yamato@
  • Kyotaro Fujimoto vs. Gegard Mousasi@
  • Hideo Tokoro vs. Kazuhisa Watanabe
  • Jason High vs. Hayato Sakurai
  • Hiroshi Izumi vs. Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa
  • Katsuaki Furuki vs. Andy Ologun
None of the matchups make real too much sense but this is going to be a 7 hour event which is going to be very competitive!!!

And Following that is the UFC 125 Card

Main card

  • Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar © vs. Gray Maynard
  • Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
  • Light Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
  • Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
  • Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi
Preliminary card (lon TV/ESPN UK/Rogers Sportsnet)

  • Lightweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Featherweight bout: Josh Grispi vs. Dustin Poirier
  • Middleweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares
UFC 125

This card is so freaking sick!
Can't wait to see this event on the 1st.

Any predictions?

Did you see Veras nose!?!? HOLY SHIT!

also, i expected leben to do a lot better than he did, but stann fucked him up good.

FE vs maynard was a good fight, I would have gave it to edgar though, not a draw. Especially for coming back from that first round where everyone thought he was done, and looking like it never even happened in the rest of the fight.
draw wasn't bad, i guess, cus now we get a third fight, but now we have to wait even longer to see Pettis fight for the title.

Veras nose was pretty brutal haha. Man it seems Leben really hasn't been performing lately ...

I agree it can get pretty brutal and gory.. but it is a competitive sport. It's no different than boxing where boxers can get hurt even worse.. or even hockey fist fighting.

WWE? what about the glory days of WWF ;P?

Yes, after the event Dana told the media that there will be a third fight, and quite possibly very soon. Was a great show of heart by Edgar. Maybe they will come to NJ in March for the rematch

I wouldn't say that Leben hasn't been performing. Leben beat down a upcoming Simpson, chocked out Sexyama, and got caught clean on the jaw with Stann. I just wonder how he comes back from this, could we possibly see Him vs lawlor, baroni, palhares.

This is a brutal sport, but MMA has come along way since the "dark days". The commission regulates these fights pretty well, most refs are very good at stoppages, and knowing when people are in trouble. This is a combat sport. They all know what they are doing because they've been training their whole lives for these moments. Boxing on the otherhand is alot more dangerous then MMA, look at how many shots they take to the head, how many time they can be knocked down and continue fighting etc etc that argument has been done over and over again. But once you understand the art of mma this is one of the most entertaining sport to watch in the world. Around here most of the girls who watch MMA, actually know whats going on (:

Vitor def has the power to knock out any man. But with that said I personally feel like he only has a punchers change. Yea you can look at his last couple of fights and see all those KO's, but hasn't fought a striker like Silva since probably Wanderlie. Silva's striking is world class, very accurate and throws from every which way possible. I just think if Vitor decides to stand up with him he will get picked apart...that is if Silva comes with the intent to stop him. Both are high level BJJ guys but whens the last time vitor subbed anyone? Regardless this fight will be fire works (: Got my bets ready

I don't think Anderson Silva is going down this go-around.

Wait until Sonnen comes back for another crack at the title.

Then we may finally see a changing of the guard.

Who knows when Chael will be back with all the shit he has to handle. Chael needs to freaking out of the guard, and move to side control or mount which he could have tried. Wrasslers these days. Who knows if Silva will be around MW when he comes back

Oh Jesus... I didn't even read about all those new developments of "heightened testosterone" and money laundering.... yeah..... looks like Anderson Silva's going to be dominating for at least a little longer :/

Yep looks like 2 years probation for the money, suspended by the Commission, and was also suspended by the UFC. Chael might be shelled for more then a year

I'm pulling for Silva and Franklin, personally... (though I think Griffin will probably win. :( )

Griffin/Franklin is such a great fight. the two are sooo similar in work ethic. franklin has more knockout power, and griffin hasnt fought in a year. as for silva/belfort I thinkt he move to couture camps means alot of clinch work, and takedowns possibly. IDK how the hell vitor cut 30lbs. i would go on and on about every fight but then i would just miss the.

and dont forget miguel torres is fighting and so is the explosive ellenberger
