[Reality]

This happens with all ABers I've used in the past, not just Abrosia. Usually my buy times are around 2500-3000ms, but every 10 or so buys the AB "hangs" and gets a buy time of like 10000ms. Does anyone else get this or knows what causes it?

Normally my buy times are 1500-3000ms, but I just checked the log and I have a buy of almost 5500ms followed by 2 more consecutive buys of that same item at 1500ms each buy. This is the first time I've noticed it, although I don't look very often at the buy times closely.

Adding onto that, you'll notice even when manually refreshing these shops that the lag is long and persistent. This kinda lag won't affect just you. Watch your buy times next HPD and see if you get a few oddly long ones with the increased server load in shops.

I remember this when I was legit. rsing, it would happen then, too. It's really annoying and on Neopet's side. Part of the reason I stopped rsing legit; even if you have a great refresh and haggle perfectly the pet click lag is ridiculous.

Doesn't really matter anyway. If the item was gotten that slowly its not gonna be a great item anyway

Not entirely true. When it happens, there's a good chance it happened for more people than just you. I've gotten rare stamps before on 3-5 seconds since lag spikes were hitting everyone.
