So I was chatting with one of the other site members the other day about some of the high statted bd pets out there. We plugged Antorcha's stats into one of the training school cost calculators and it came to a total of something like 41 years and approx 11.5 billion neopoints. (that price would be strictly from training school codestones)

Obviously, neggs were used in training this pet but the point remains.. How does one continue training a pet continuously, especially with sneggs going for 200k and cool neggs going for 500k? I don't even think someone Abing constantly could fund such a pet?

Opinions? Explanations?

Also, in b4 "making neopoints isn't hard bro"

It is possible, with correct investments and luck to make billions of nps.

People with the highest BD pets often win one of a kind items from plots etc, which price up in the hundreds of millions, along with restocking at the cove and other things.

its just a case of the people who got lucky early on in the game, tend to stay lucky, with items not worth much when they start out, and inflation bringing them superb profit.

Fair enough.. It did occur to me that perhaps they had a few items which inflated over the last 10 years. I wonder if they were packrats who purposely kept tons of items in the hopes that they would be retired (and increase in value), or rather if it was mostly luck - as you mentioned.

Agreed, also keep in mind when the pets were made.
A long time ago, neggs would be worth a 1k per token (which isn't cheap but that was a long time ago) and they have risen steadily til now. Also, shrooms were restocked so I imagine that that would pretty cheap as well. This in conjunction with cheaper codestone prices probably led to them having a cheaper training cost back then.

Additionally, what Georgina said - they should be pretty rich considering all the war events they've been too. Also since they've been around for so much longer - a lot of the retired/rare items sell for a lot more then what they used to.

For neocodex, I think the vast majority of people make their money by AB-ing. However, getting into the market place and being a "reseller" is also a great way to make money. Before I quit the last time, I spent a couple of days reselling and boy were the profits handsome.
I easily made 1 mil on a draik egg by sniping, and I also sniped a few morphing potions as well. I think that also if you're on a lot and offer low prices/noob items for some UB's you'll get lucky. Often people want to push stuff they've been trying to sell for weeks for whatever price they can get. Then they turn back and resell this stuff for hundreds of thousand more then they paid for it.

I remember one guy last week was buying angelic lolly pops for about 280k (that's what he said he bought 3 others when I pm'ed him) but I checked jellyneo and it was worth upwards of 1.5 mil. I advertised around a little bit (and nm users who said they were collecting gourmets) and easily sold it for 1.3 mil within an hour or two. So if you're that guy that are snatching up UB's without a TP price then you could potentially be making 1 mil every time you make a trade (and in some instances more)

True, I guess negg and codestone prices have gone up. Out of curiosity, Georgina if you're still in here, what would you price an account like that at? In NPs and/or other?

I'm not even sure an account like that could be worth anything in sale value.
It would be extremely difficult to exchange hands because once TNT figures out that some random guy is logging into his account - it would probably be frozen for "security purposes"
As we all know, all accounts are property of TNT and cannot be sold so the guy can't send an email to unfreeze it and say that. He can't even say he gave the account to a friend because sharing accounts is illegal:/

It would really depend on how well known it was, as turtle said, alot of people wouldnt touch it if it was that epic, but it has been known to happen! With a bit of intellegence, like a planned move to another country or house described on the boards or in neomails to friends etc. Youd have to have alot of communiction with the origonal owner so your storys checked out.

And to be honest, i dont think i could price something like that lol.

lol, I've been playing on and off since I was 13. I'm 23 now.. On the same account. (does that make me a lamer? Probably). But in that time I have gotten a fair amount of trophies, neopoints and items.. Nothing that would come close to what these people have achieved though.

Also, Georgina and turtle - I +repd you for your answers. Ty!

Nah doesn't make you a lamer, lots of us here are like that and probably because we weren't successful/frozen we're all here :p

Also I doubt anyone who played neopets at the start at a younger age would be as successful as the older people who played...I know I wasn't smart enough to stockpile hypno...err h4000, or jade scorchs back in the day...

So yeah, back then everything was cheap. Hidden Tower items have retired, anyone with Rod of Dark Nova is bloody rich (was in HT for 23 mil at one time, EASILY brings in 1 billion ATM). Don't forget restocking Seasonal Attack Pea's and just about any original BM r99 item that has retired. Hypno Helmets have severely risen in prices in the past few years aswell.

at least you took breaks :p

Having seen all those stats and what not... makes me wonder, just how much time and effort has been put into neopets...

Yeah...hypno's aka H4000 helmets were like 30k...now they're what? 6-7m? :p Inflation can be crazy...I wonder if things will ever deflate but I doubt it since there are so many frozen people with rares and cove items :/

yea I was definitely too young back then and noob at this game to have had the foresight to invest in items. The only thing I did have, were those movies which served no purpose. I remember logging on one day to find out they had been converted to rare books. Made a pretty penny with those, but that was all random and no planning on my part :p

I think that is a lot of player's inevitable regret. A lot of my old NFs and I back when I actively BD'd had that same sentiment that we easily could have stockpiled H4Ks if we had only known. But of course, we didn't and many years if off and on playing later, no harm no foul. One thing that does still tickle me is when an inflated investment actually pays out. My last active main had probably somewhere around 50m in cheaper investments. Mostly some HTS usukicon stuff from Y4/5/6 and retired stamps. I tallied it up the other week using the few items I could distinctly remember and they totaled somewhere between 120m and 200m in HTS usukicon gear and sorta-ETS stamps.

Yeah, I started playing when I was 13 or so and don't have that much to show for it compared to some players. Of course, I liked starting fresh a lot and taking breaks from Neo which lasted years.

This is really a no-brainer... HRobi has been playing Neopets for ten years... There was more ways to train, codestones were cheaper, neggs were cheaper, etc.. I'm pretty sure she did some lab training at one time or another, too. All you've gotta do is hoard and be smart and play consistently -- especially when it's ten-plus years. I wonder what'll die first: HRobi or Neopets. xD She's gotta be getting into her late-60s at this point... Or at least early-60s.

Cool Neggs use to be cheap as hell. She initially got rich after stocking up on wines which retired and sold for a crap load, and once you're rich, it's pretty easy to get more NP, faster.

Here is the real answer. When I visited majal_kita's lookup in Y2, he claimed to have done thousands of kitchen quests to get his high stats. Considering there wasn't a 10 quest a day limit like there is now, this is completely plausible. Your calculator overprices each stat by assuming they were all gained using codestones (when you couldn't train past level 250 until years later the Ninja school came out) not accounting for faerie quests(back then you could also get a faerie quest whenever you felt like it instead of it being a random event) and lab zaps. By Y2 though, the best pets were already 1000+/700/700. In today's prices, a max out pet saves 200k every faerie quest and 500k every 5hp lab zap. Repeat for 13 years.
