Okay, so i've been on here a few days now and i obviously haven't reached 500 posts, i've seen users come really close to having 500 in less than a week though.
First, how'd they do it? :/ and why'd they do it? I mean, it only costs 5 usd, which is like 2.70 GBP a month to own it. I'm pretty poor, cause i live on my own with my boyfriend but seriously, people can't afford it, don't want to pay, what? I don't even know what's so great about choosing which shops you AB in.
I mean yeah it's great sticking to 2-6 shops in stead of them all, but everyone's doing that and its just more of a risk in my opinion. Half the time these users have only just joined and found out what a AB is so there gonna end up getting the accounts froze anyway, so i don't see the point.
Might just be me though, but it seems pointless. I'm quite happy with what i have now and it's less of a risk.

I would pay for it, but i don't need to for now in my opinion, or else i probably would buy it. But for now and until i get used to it, i'm gonna leave it. But these other people just seem stupid xD

Because they can and it's free? They also get it forever, meaning they don't have to continue to pay for it as long as they don't get their post counts reduced and their Advancement revoked.

Yeah but that's what i mean, you'd had to do it all legit anyway since the mods on this site could just reset your count when the clock on. And yeah that's great getting it for free and stuff but still it seems like a rather annoying and time consuming task to go around spamming 500 posts as it is.

    Todays restock;

    2011-01-10 18:33:54 - Abrosia MSAB Started.
    2011-01-10 19:28:17 - Abrosia MSAB Stopped.

    Worse one i've had :p

Lol and i like your sig (:

It only took about a week or so for a couple people that I remember, and they didn't get their posts removed nor did they get banned for it, they pretty much got away with everything other than being liked by the community, but they never cared about that in the first place when they spammed their asses off for the Advanced membership.

Are there any other advantages of having a Advanced member ship, or is it just the ABer?
To be honest, i've only seen 10-15 active users on here. maybe 20, not been here long but i know theres not many so how would it be that hard to miss?
I mean if someone knew joined and just started spamming wouldn't more than one person realize it :/

Some other features in programs, can't remember if we have much else besides Abrosia.

And we did notice it, and they just posted a lot, but they didn't really go to EVERY THREAD and make the same generic post, we catch those and stop those, but there was a guy who just made ignorant posts about his religion and others opinions on religion, we didn't like him, but he got his 500 posts and left, which was pretty much good enough for us since he wasn't shitting up the debate any longer.

Lmao. Alright i see what you mean, fair enough then. I'm not gonna get started on people like this. But i do hope i actually find some friends by being on this site, so far i've had pretty ignorant and harsh messages/comments. But it's mostly been from girls/lads up there arse or these type of users.
I think i'm gonna have a great time just debating on here to be honest, i might learn some new things as well.

Yeah, we're a harsh bunch. You've just got to follow the implicit rules of a forum and we'll be nice :)

And most people usually have some inferior AB'er to tide them over until they reach 500, then they get to 500 (usually 501) and then they leave with the superior Abrosia AB'er.

The ones who make friends stay, the others leave. It's like a flow chart

What I think we should do is for all users over 500 posts who have been a member for less than six months to reduce their post count automatically by one per day so they can't just spam to 500 posts, leave and continue to enjoy our stuff.

That just sounds like for every x days you are here you need x posts to be considered advance lol. Or PPD.

I've seen that suggested. It sounds okay, the only thing I would worry about are the people spamming to, say, 530 posts, knowing they have around a month of AB'ing, and then coming back after that month to spam the shit out of the boards all over again. Unless it was implemented alongside something else, I'm not sure it would be a long-term solution.

Perhaps we can come up with some spiffy algorithm to detect spammers. :p

Slap some sort of membership length requirement alongside the post count. Like you'd need 500 posts and to have been a member for 3 (or whatever) months to get advanced.

And also people who join like years ago, leave, then come back. They would get past that :/ Like Marshstomp or peonyourlawn who joined in 08' and 09' respectively (not calling them spammers... well one of them)

I won't lie, I really want my 500 post count. But. I respect the forums and the people here enough not to spam just to get it. I intend to still be here after I get my posts, so I want to take my time and make friends.

I agree with the time requirement - because honestly some people are just going nuts with stupid posts. Or limit amount of posts that count.
However, I suspect that spamming will be a lot more difficult once this downvoting thing gets implemented

I really want my 500 post count, too, but I agree and can see the advantages of having a minimum time limit, say 3 or 6 months or something, to be advanced. And maybe you have to maintain a certain amount of posts to stay active, so people don't just grab Abrosia and leave. The downside is that you'd have people posting stupid stuff just to stay active.

Honestly we're better off without having to read the stupid shit spammers post. If they were here to make friends, they wouldn't have spammed in the first place.

Some of my best memories of playing neopets weren't actually on neopets at all - they were here, or in IRC, sharing the results of my programs with other Neocodex users. I guess if you just want the program, you could probably get it somewhere else anyway. Neocodex has a community of cheaters, programmers and players - that's our real product, our real strength.

Because Advanced is the only functioning group, we should treat it how we use to back in 05' for private. Make applications to join and what not and you need a certain requirement to apply.

    Psh. Elitists.

If you don't allow people to spam to advanced, you may as well pull your pants down and stick your asses in the air for Hitler to rape. Because you'd be accomplishing the same thing.

How do you even connect no spamming to no vaseline?
