You are very right, it isn't nice at all. We aren't invading their countries however, so I believe there is no room for complaints. And it becomes increasingly hard to ignore them in some cases where it seems like they come in hundreds.

You might be surprised at how much disagreement you would get over this. I mean, cultural invasion is still a type of invasion. Look at the spread of English, American-type democracies (some of which we forced), the dollar as a political/economic unit, etc. The US is all up in everyone else's business, when you think about it.

Plus there are several countries that we ARE invading, y'know, with our military.

I took this from NY Times Online:

CARACAS, Venezuela — A plan to increase the American military presence on at least three military bases in Colombia, Washington’s top ally in Latin America, is accentuating Colombia’s already tense relations with some of its neighbors.

Venezuela, Ecuador and Nicaragua, which are members of a leftist political alliance that is led by President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and backed by his nation’s oil revenues, have all criticized the plan, saying it would broaden the military reach of the United States in the Andes and the Caribbean at a time when they are still wary of American influence in the region.

We call that invasion here in South America, not sure about you :F

It's been going on for quite a while, actually Posted Image
IMO, they just want a way in to the Amazon Forest…
But then again, that's just my opinion

I do agree with you too an extent. First off I am a first generation immigrant and am fluent in Russian (my native language), Ukrainian, Spanish, and English so I understand the difficulty of learning English considering it took me 2+ years to get it down. For my parents as they were older it took some more time, we have lived in the states for 15 years and my mom and dad still speak broken English. Now I understand that it must be frustrating not understanding the people but they are trying, there is no reason to be so rude about it. In Mexico in tourist areas they speak English, German, French, and Russian to accommodate for those traveling there so why is it so hard for Americans to do the same. Now your second point on illegal immigration I agree on. It should be monitored better and have stricter consequences for offenders.

Jake, guess who's screwed? :) You arreeeeeeeeeeeee.

How so? I'm not completely biased, I already know the positives and negatives about both sides. Obviously it would be completely unreasonable to kick out every immigrant and to do so would completely fuck up our fragile economy. I'm just simply saying I don't like them or their funny accent.

Well technically that's not mainly my country's doing, being Canadian and whatnot. I already know the US is in everyones business. lol

well i agree that people who cannot speak english shouldn't move here until they learn it, there's another side of the argument. Vacations

Meaning that if you go on vacation then you should only go where you can speak the language? That is not very fun imo

If everyone had to have good English to move to the US, your economy would blow up!

TL:DR some girl thinks everyone has to be like her and speak the same language as her. Forgetting the US is a nation of immigrants. A very self-centered view

Nation of immigrants people. Who gives a shit what patch of dirt you were shit out on. If you can come to America and make your way, you should be able to reside wherever you want.

I was trying to keep it within your ability to read the whole thing, since it's something you apparently have problems with.

I'd also like to point out that it is also no longer possible to keep people from immigrating into the country as was done with the exclusion acts. There would be too much pressure from ethnic interest groups to make such a thing feasible imo.

Not sure about that, as we were talking about the latinos that work in the US and such.

And Jake, even though I respect your point of view, I have to disagree.

People migrate for many different reasons, so you can't just hate on everyone that moves into the USA without knowing why they did so.
If you lived in a shitty country, you'd probably want to move out too!

yea and the united states has a history of being pretty horrible to immigrants, Angel Island, Asian exclusion acts, anti alien land laws etc.
