Not that i'm "socially awkward," or anything, i'm just really lazy (and an ass) when it comes to having conversations with most people. Especially when someone I barely know is talking to me, all I reply is usually "wow" and "yup."

I think the youngest generation have become so used to IM's and text messaging that, as a whole, oral communication is greatly losing it's value. Fucking all brain dead from doing nothing but watch TV and play games all day.

I don't doubt this... but rather when communicating through text messages you at least have time to stop and think about what to say.

Quite the opposite. I tend to be a 'listener' when the other person starts on and won't stop. It's a strange date when you don't really say a word, though.

We had a novel discussion at school about each of our books and we had to talk about characters, setting and theme. Once I started talking about my book I took up the whole period.. My teacher would walk by occasionally and tell me to move on already.
