I have absolutely no complaint at all about the Customer Service on my computer. And anyone who buys a computer from Costco will agree. Best Customer Service in the industry. As for quality, the parts come from the same exact manufacturer. If you fooled yourself into thinking your Mac is better quality, I feel bad for you.
And Mac's are not top of the line. My 948 dollar Windows based computer (With tax and shipping) is better then any Mac that they offer. Do not for a single second think that Mac's are better because they cost more. They cost more because they are over priced. Simple as that.
(P.S. I hate this shared avatar service. I thought you where jcrboy and was like, "What is wrong with you man?")
Anyways. This topic has nothing to do with which is better. Its just who uses what.
I never made the statement that mac was better quality. I happen to think some of their software programs are superior, especially in the film/video realm. Final Cut Pro is the top of the line film editing program, hands down, which is why every major film school and Hollywood studio uses it. I agree macs are overpriced. But I do like the fact that most of the viruses and spyware don't affect me
I'm gonna go ahead and say you've never dealt with Toshiba's customer service. They're amazing, and even pay for shipping.

That's cool. Apple has paid for overnight shipping for us before, too. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?
I've spoken with plenty of Indian people while dealing with Apple support.
Maybe it's a regional thing. I think my cs calls were being routed to Denver. I was especially impressed with the wait time. You get a live person within minutes.

Yea, but it makes me feel even better knowing I saved $800 by not buying Apple

That wasn't a reply to you, that was a reply to the person who did say that. And Adobe After Effects + Adobe Premiere is godlike. I know many film schools, and many productions studios who use those programs.
I dont run an antivirus program on my computer, and have never in my life time gotten a virus. Its a simple task of not being retarded enough to download the virus.
It may be just the number of calls that you handle. Sometimes I would also get people in the US, but with over a thousand calls a year, I can say I got more calls to another country then to the US.

Saving $800 doesn't help me if it can't run Final Cut Studio.

Could be. I haven't had to call very much, certainly nothing like the volume you experience. Not in 10 lifetimes.

So thats the secret!... I use Avid myself, but I know how it is once you get used to using a program... So hard to switch >.<

Haven't used this personally, so can't offer any comparison. Which schools use it? Not being a smart ass, just curious. my family is very involved in this industry and I'm pretty sure that the top 8 film schools (US) all use macs and final cut.

And you can save $800 dollars AND run Final Cut Studio.
How do you think we manage to make programs that run on Mac? Shadow doesn't own a mac.

It has been explained to me that the only way to run final cut pro on a "pc" is to emulate mac os on your pc. I am not a programmer. Much easier to buy the mac and simply install all 9 discs.

University of Texas
The UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television
USC's School of Cinematic Arts
To name a few.

You don't need to emulate anything. You can install Mac on a windows based computer. Like I said a thousand times. Its the same hardware.

UT teaches editing primarily through Final Cut, along with some Avid. USC uses both. They run avid on mac, tho. If you're going to do your editing at a film school workstation you'll be doing it on a mac.
Anyway, I've used both Windows and Mac OS and for my personal use, I prefer Mac. Plus they look good. I could afford to buy what I like so I did.

And its completely your choice to what but. You earned that money, and you can spend it any way you please.
But from a Completely Technical Standpoint. Windows PC > Mac PC.

It seems that the majority of the techie "A" personality types prefer a Windows PC and the artsy fartsy "B" personality types like me prefer Mac, but I could be wrong. It IS nice to get what you like, tho, either way. I mean, we spend enough time sitting in front of these things.

Mac FTW! Can't believe only 3 other people have them..so much faster/easier to use.
I think the rest of the site disagrees with you.

PCs are far and away better in price, reliability, (usually) customer service, and usage.
Macs are for people who KANT DUE TEH PCZ.
I'm going to respectfully disagree with the customer service bit. The people who work in my local Mac store are extremely helpful and friendly compared to the people I used to go when I had problems with my old Windows computer/laptop.
On a side note, if that's a photo of you in your signature, you look like my housemate.
To answer the poll, I use a Mac.

Trolls will be trolls. There are probably a thousand companies cranking out laptops or towers out there, soldering parts together, clicking in RAM and video cards - trying to compare all of them would be stupid... there are pros and cons to all of them. I said pretty sure because I haven't bought a thousand computers before. For all I know, there could be someone out there that beats Apple's service, but as I've never had to try many other computer companies, I'm ignorant on the subject. At least I can admit it. Your blind faith in the OS market leader is a little.... how to put this... a little fucking stupid. You say I don't actually know, as though you actually know. But we both know that's just bullshit posturing. So please, don't take a superior tone with me.I'm gonna go ahead and say you've never dealt with Toshiba's customer service. They're amazing, and even pay for shipping.

Oh... Pretty sure. So you don't actually know.
Thanks for playing anyways.
Windows. I wish it was as easy to dual-boot Mac and Windows on a PC as it is on a Mac (or maybe I'm just missing something) as I'd like to try it out.

Here's your XBox joke:
How are MJ and an XBOX 360 alike? They went from black to white, they're made of plastic, and both get turned on by little boys.

I had to use a MacBook today on campus. That was a bad experience for me. I forgot how much I hated the keyboard layout Apple uses. It feels so much less ergonomic than what I've grown accustomed to.
and you're right unfortunately the keyboard isnt the best. theres definitely a learning curve if you've been using a pc all your life

I remember the old iMacs we had in the Science wings in high school...

For some reason they had a magic crash button. If you pressed F16 while the focus was on the desktop, you'd get a bomb button you couldn't make go away.
I got detention for crashing every computer in the lab in 45 seconds.
