Ping user after reply?

I tried to search to see if had been suggested before, but didn't see anything.
One of my favorite forums I used to visit had this 'ping' option to where, if you wanted to, you could ping the user of the post you're replying to.
It helped a lot on the debate forums so you could reply quickly. (:
I've seen it in different sites as either @username or something along those lines.
It seemed helpful to me instead of watching a whole forum or particular topic, you could just click right to the reply.

Anywayyyy just a suggestion. If something like this is already in place then please excuse my ignorance. :p

If people want to be notified of replies being posted in any threads they're interested in they should be able to use the Watch Topic button at the top of all threads and it'll send a notification if anything changes in it. Otherwise you could always just PM the user. :p

True, I mentioned that. I guess that's good enough for most, but having that ping if someone just replied to my own post was helpful. :p

There's an option for notification when a user quotes your post.
