Ya, pet sites are very profitable. I know of some making over $500/day from ad upgrades and such.

I'm not talking about Misticpets on this one.

I'm talking about other big games in the community - and those that do, their servers aren't over $500/mnth.

The only time I hear of other pets sites is when one of you guys posts one. I remember Marapets, made an account thinking it was just starting out. Two years later the graphics were still horrid, no new games, and succeeding on that site was much more difficult than on neopets.

I think the main reason neopets has done so well is that they put advertisements in many places. First I heard of neopets was on the radio, then they gave McDonalds plushies to give in the kids meals. I even saw a comercial for them on tv. Most of the other pet sites you either have to search for it, or be told about it, or to accidently stumble upon it (someway).

^Agreed; Marapets was such a funny spin off of neopets I remember seeing an advertizement on a Neopets help site and tried it out hoping that it would turn into the 2nd neopets as time went on; nope

And I agree; I think if they put another neopets toy out there right now, there woud be more kids joining too

I think they'd attract more users if they updated their art and stopped trying so hard to make it look like anime.

Yeah, me too.. I heard about Marapets and Subeta because someone mentioned it before..
But never really had account on those two..
Subeta seems to be failed..
Marapets = horrible colours, it could ruins my precious eyes..

Neopets still the best.. And become much interesting because of Neocodex..
