This was in the news today.

NOTICE: The site will be down for maintenance tonight for about an hour sometime between 9 PM and 12 AM NST. This is preventive maintenance to install new Meepit detection gear... just in case. *shifty eyes*

This maybe a precaution to catch bots. (this maybe also my own personal superstition :p )
I wouldn't use any programs of any kind after midnight tonight (NST of course) until the programming team can take a look at what was changed.
I know I wont be cheating for a while. And again this maybe my own superstition and if Im out of line Mr.Mod please tell me :p

They usually blame meepits when something goes technically wrong with the site so it's more likely just fixing server issues.

Eh Good point; but I doubt they can do anything about ABing... When I first read it, I just thought they were going to fix the lag and maybe tighten up CG problems

That's probably the extent of it, but it's never bad to be safe rather than sorry.

Given the context in which it was used (Meepit Detection Gear), I don't think we need to worry too much. :p

So. In conclusion; there probbably isn't probbably going to be a threat to any of us, but if you'd wouldn't want to take the chance, lay low until tomorrow :p
-Also; I doubt they could freeze all the ABers if they tried :p

I dont think its to deal with the cheaters. I would imagine its to fix all the page loading issues and what not. Either way I am RS banned for the day anyway.

They freeze even legit people (altough they usually unfroze them some months later).
Do you think they can't just let a program autofreeze all the accounts that look like they were getting with a lot of profit from ABing?
(Altough I really doubt they would do that, but they could be able to do it)

A few weeks back I was browsing Darkztar and followed a link to an editorial that had TNT claiming that they never use automated scripts or bots to freeze users.

I'm sure that wouldn't be the first time they've lied though.

But uhh, thanks for the heads up? (x

I bet it has something to do with the purge / incorporating more facebook / coding issues(like there's been a lot of problems with neo lately :p )
