I doubt that's the case. Also there's a tsunami watch for the islands now.

They're always destroying Tokyo in their manga.

Hundreds have died already, and the total toll will likely get to the thousands. It was truly devastating. And to think the tsunamis from the flood are reaching the entire coast of North America. It's crazy.

8.9....Wow thats almost off the richter scale...Alas, Cali will soon have one..

Funny thing, I read that March 19 is when the Moon will be closest to the Earth and the ebb and flow of land/ocean tides will change causing an increase in earthquake and volcano activity too.

Nearly 88,000 people are reported missing, according to the official Kyodo news agency.

Buncha videos..some of em are pretty crazy...like the supermarket one and the giant whirlpool

    Yahoo's videos

Shit, I was just thinking about tourists getting caught up in all of this, completely oblivious to what was about to happen.

Impossible, since all flights to and from are currently grounded.

Of course, but being with your loved ones in your own home is much different than being stranded in another country either by yourself or with only a few people that you know and possibly speak your language.

I just so hope everybody there is okay. I doubt it though, but I hope that the least amount of people possible are affected.
And I've got BBC News Live feed up with regular updates on it...

It's weird how things can reach you across the world. Apparently the wife of someone I know was killed in it.

This entire thing is just devastating. To those waiting to hear from friends and family, I hope you hear good news from them soon.

I was wondering about the volcanoes. More people are going to get displaced because of that now..

And I wonder what's going to happen in the Pacific Ring of Fire now.. Seems like the plates are on the move again.
