I'm engaged!
A month or so ago, I traveled to India with my parents partly for business and partly for a vacation. While there, I met a wonderful girl named Saarah and we got talking. It turned out that we were incredibly similar and both enjoyed each other's company. I kept in touch with her when I got back to the states and three weeks ago, my family sent her family a proposal for marriage. She accepted, and last Thursday, we were engaged to be married!
It might be a little strange to you that I got engaged so quickly after meeting Saarah. As many of you know, I'm a Muslim. Islamic courtship is a bit more traditional than western tradition. We don't really date or live together before marriage like western culture prescribes. Instead, engagements are typically where the couple gets to know each other. Our engagement is likely to last a couple years. She's a bit younger than me and I'd like for her to finish school.
