Wow. I never knew that grading scales were so different. I mean, I know that in Europe and elsewhere you're expected to get lower grades than here in the US (which means it really, REALLY sucks having a French professor who uses European grading scales even though it gets compared to other American scores), but I never realized exactly how large the disparity is. I even spent a semester in Austria and thought that my mediocre grades (mediocre being mostly 2s with a couple of 3s) were mostly a product of the language barrier. I guess I actually did a lot better than I thought I did, relatively speaking. w00t.
I'm under the US 10% each ABCD system.
Talk about arrogant and ignorant post. Judging someone's intelligence by their choice in degree? Just because they're doing something you perceive as useless or easy doesn't make them less intelligent. It means they have different interests than you do.
I got far higher numerical marks (relatively, they were using a compleeetely different system) on my semester abroad in Paris than I ever get in England.

Bit of a shock the first time I got them back until I realised that it was actually a fairly similar grade as I receive under my standard system.
