My question is this: Why is she so popular if her famous songs are pretty much copied?

I`m assuming she's popular because she "copies" popular catchy songs. The average person wouldn't know the similarity between Tik Tok and California Girls.

If her songs really were that similar then there would have been legal actions taken by both parties to protect the copyright on their material.

A good example of this would be the Viva La Vida fiasco with Coldplay. The song had an creepy resemblance to the song "The Song I didn't Write" - Creaky Boards and "If I could fly" - Joe Satriani

If this was the case with Katy Perry then there would have been something in the news about it by now.

Edit: After seeing this post I had to go to youtube and see what I could find.



A comparison of the two songs and yes the beat does sound the same somewhat but then again I had to try and listen for it to hear it.

Well, duh. Have you heard her sing? Sounds like a cat trying to hack up a hairball and she has absolutely no stage presence. She might have a catchy song here or there and she's certainly pretty, but I'm not a fan.

Yep XD They were 'discovered' in a Burlesque club, and probably one of them can sing quite well? The rest just sorta skank it up on their film clips(Not that they all don't do that, but the random one who just does the splits against things comes to mind XD)
