I've heard a lot about people getting wrongfully frozen for simply being too rich/trophied/etc. What I want to know is, what do you guys think about it and how does it affect the way you play?

Do you take a more conservative approach and try to keep an account alive as long as possible, or do you go with a more hedonistic approach and AB/Auto/SS/etc. like crazy? Or do you not care and only play casually?

Having my accounts iced would be way too depressing.

Well, since my internet is too slow and my ping too high as it is, I AB proxyless on my main and so it's kind of necessary to adopt a detached attitude just in case I do get iced.
SSing is too risky, but I do also AoB occasionally and auto play non-flash games.
I honestly believe TNT is not stupid, but they are lazy.
The mods are probably mostly bored people on minimum wage not bothering to properly check all the fishy stuff people do on the site.
However, if you are unlucky enough to draw the attention of a trigger-happy/alert/bad mood TNT mod, then you're in trouble.
If you cheat, keep a low profile, and you will probably go by unnoticed...

if your stupid, you'll get frozen. if your not stupid, you'll probably get frozen anyway.
generally, if you've played legit (or even if you havent) you may be able to get your account back.
if not, you probably cheated to get there in the first place, so couldnt you just do it all again?

I've auto bought on my main for the chocolate avatar, send funds from shells generated from SSing. Also used SS to beat games for AAA on my main. So don't want to get frozen, but doesn't mean im gonna do legit stuff

try to set small goels and then once you reached them store them on a proxy-shell/main, so you can kind of of 'save' your progress as long you don't become too greedy and build a nice main where you only play the battledome and altador cup

This definitely doesn't really phase me. I'll continue with my consistently haphazard, yet cautious ways until I get frozen. I just find the thrill of testing the limits more fun that hoarding riches/fame.
For example, I'm haphazard when it comes to ABing in high risk shops and the attic, but I'm cautious when trading here. I NEVER reveal my true main. Only a convincing scapegoat main.

I'll continue to play casually because it's a good time waster for this summer (not to mention making a pretty penny here and there).

Apparently people have been doing this and still getting their mains frozen and their shells are left untouched. Seems like TNT is going for mains.

i doubt it. if you've been using a proxy with your shells, and they have no link to your main, it shouldnt be traceable. ive been doing it for years, and never had a freeze.
if a main is frozen, chances are someones been playing non legit on it , or had something non legit linked to it.
some of the people we've had recently using the programs are stupid, and are looking for quick np without realising the risks or precautions they should take.
then again, these recent freezings are rather worrying

I agree, just going off of what people are saying in the status messages and whatnot. It is possible TNT have found more intricate ways to connect accounts together beyond IP and e-mails.

TNT might find a reason to freeze you if you own more then 2 SuAP =P unless you go inactive of course

I've seen shell's been frozen for just having the same proxy as a cheating-account

Im not sure what everyone else has said; but i will tell you how it works...

Once you are caught cheating, your account is "flagged" and then they ban all flagged accounts in waves... so if your account is flagged (no way to tell) then you will be banned at some point in the near future...

This probaly wont help all of you who are panicking Just remember its a game and you can very easily start over and continue cheating.

those people probably don't use proxies or didn't transfer neopoints correctly

You know what I seriously think is going on? Because they're going after mains, I think they're just trying to get rid of alot of the NP in the economy..alot of people have millions and millions of NP and it just seems like they've been obsessed with NP sinks (Wheel of extravagance, Wishing well being the new ones).

The wheel of extravagance is also really deflating the price of paintbrushes, nerkmids, and job coupons.

Each e-mail is allowed 5 accounts on Neopets. 1 main, 4 shells (that's you're not supposed to use for anything except storage, so ideally you shouldn't have any trophies, games played, anything to do with NP on it). Unless you're permanently switching accounts to make a new main, because you had a crappy username on your old main, or for whatever reason. When you do that, you're apparently not allowed to earn NP on either account for 24 hours.

Same passwords doesn't seem to be something they should be able to use since that's illegal. No one, not even the company, is supposed to know your password if it wants to be secure. The only getaround I can think of is that they look at a flagged account, get the hashed password, and scan their database for it. I bet a lot of people actually have the same password though. Don't tell me you never wanted to put "iloveboobies" or something Probably if the hashed password AND e-mail appear on more than a 5 records of accounts, AND if you've been making NP off more than 1 account, they'd probably freeze those ones, maybe freeze all.

Something that amazes me is that my legit accounts were frozen for doing stupid things, such as earning NP in two accounts without a proxy (I was young and naive) or over drama at the Neoboards... and now that I'm cheating like crazy (with some limits, obviously, like AB small stuff or getting around 3 trophies per month and almost every game avatar through AoB) nothing has happened. And I've also met people with similar experiences =P

I AB on proxied shells and send the profit/items to my main, transfer FFQ painted pets to my main from illegit shells and AoB/SS on my main as well. If it came under scrutiny it would probably be iced yeah it would suck losing all the avatars and trophies that I score sent for (lol) and having to re-train/paint pets but I couldn't really care, I'd just create a new account and cheat my way back. If I gave still gave a shit about the site and played legit yeah I would be annoyed and probably stop playing but there really isn't anything on my main account I've put any legitimate effort into.

I make my main look real by only ABing a couple of hours a day, and actually signing in and doing the dailies. I don't play games by hand, but I think the daily activity and link clicking makes my account look more legit than if I had just ABed on it all the time.
