And some people use more then you. Some people use 25 gigabytes a month, some people use even more then that. Why should people who need a unlimited plan, lose that right to have that plan, without a justifiable cause?

I assure you that you can use 25 gigs a month and AT&T will not stop you. However since you use more than me you should definitely pay more as well.

I didn't say that you did, just that it shouldn't be removed just because some people will not use it.

I, and nobody else, said anything about removing large data plans. O_o I was merely questioning if I was the only person who failed to see the reason for people to use so much mobile data.

Wow, thanks for the update. It looks like Verizon is now following in AT&T's footsteps with tiered plans.

Am I the only person who fails to see the need for large data usage on mobile phones?

I'm not trying to pay overage charges when I watch one too many youtube videos through At&T's network of faux-4G cell towers. It's not about having unlimited, it's about getting the best deal for your buck. Which unlimited surely is, if you use mobile internet whatsoever.

90 percent of your population lives within 100 miles of the US border. The north of canada is so sparsely populated it isn't economically efficient to have good coverage unless the companies pass on the cost to you, the consumer. Sucks, but the US Midwest has many of the same problems.

why? data isn't a limited resource. it does not become more scarce when one person takes some.

uhh, no. Wireless data is a very limited resource due to spectrum space.

You think it's right for me to go to a restaurant and order a 10 ounce steak but have to pay the same as the guy who ordered the 12 ounce?

People seem to forget that cell companies, just like a restaurant or any other service industry is out to make as much profit as possible. Giving things away instead of capitalizing on them is not how you develop a multi-billion dollar company.

I pay around 70 dollars a month for 100 minutes outgoing, unlimited incoming at all times, 1000 minutes evenings/weekends, 500mb of data, and unlimited text.

This is in Canada. I don't mind paying so much because people can call me at all times and I can talk for hours.

It really is a limited resource, there's only so much bandwidth available at any one time and it's relatively expensive to buy compared with hard-wired bandwidth.
